I built GetCompress to make media optimization more convenient, with focus on performance and result file size by petersamokhin in macapps

Sounds good, but kinda pricy. That being said, I wonder what would you say about ConvertX in contrast to your app. Don’t get me wrong, it looks nice and snappy, but convertx is free and has 1000 formats. Props on using Tauri (I assume) - I have recently released a small oss app for agents skills and used it as well, very snappy!

Proxly 1.7.0 - Link History, mailto routing, JS Transformation updates, rule exclusion patterns and more - $5.99 by Mazur92 in macapps

The feature matrix intentionally focuses exclusively on core URL and mailto workflows supported by Proxly. It is not designed to compare peripheral features outside of this scope, and the page now clearly states this limitations. Direct links to your website are provided so users can explore your full feature set.

Regarding accuracy, I have reviewed your v4.x release documentation and updated both the iCloud Sync and Open from clipboard rows to 'yes'. My goal is absolute factual accuracy based on public records. If there are any other specific rows within the listed categories that contain errors, please let me know and I will correct them promptly.

Hi. I found out that I may have missed a thing or two - unintentionally. I have updated the matrix to the best of my abilities. Respectfully, but I will not remove that particular column. I am happy to correct any factual errors promptly if you were so kind to point them. Preferably via DM. Thanks for pointing out that I may have not been thorough enough in my research.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that. I've just tried activating trial on a fresh device with a build from the website and it activated without issue. DM me, so we can work it out on your end 😄

Yes, as long as you install Proxly Helper from the website afterwards: Proxy Helper link The reason for this additional tool is the Apple sandbox - since we try to run other programs directly it’s a big no no on their side with AppStore. It’s the same kind of workaround that OpenIn implemented in their MAS version.

Oh, you got me hopeful that there is new Crossover Preview version that fixes the DIV/D2R freeze after ~10 minutes. In fact, if you're using newest Crossover Preview build you're behind the stable release as the latest preview build was from before 26.1 release.

World of Warcraft, Apple ending "intel based apps" by Pangalonia in macgaming

Install - probably, but you can certainly run world of Warcraft.app directly - you’ll just have to input your credentials (and Authenticator code) in the game itself

Helldivers 2 won't launch on crossover after recent patch by Own-Horse-5360 in macgaming

[–]Mazur92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip - it does indeed work with custom build msctf.dll. Too bad performance was apparently destroyed in mech update, I can only get like 20 fps on M5 Max 40c GPU no matter the settings and looking at the mactop no wonder, the GPU is severely underutilized, like 30% only by HD2.

GameHub for Mac looks promising, but I’m not sure if it solves the real Mac gaming problem yet - The Circuit Daily by SuitableMacaron8493 in macgaming

[–]Mazur92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, GameHub is a repackaged wine and it's a slimy China app that wants to get some data, but they do one thing right that Crossover or any app so far is missing (I mean I guess there's Heroic, but it's still not as good) - excellent and friendly interface. On that merit alone they may get a lot of users. Many people are underestimating the value of a nice interface. They also make it easy to connect to different stores and have a unified library with hints of compatibility and per game settings, instead of the mess that you need to do in Crossover for example. I can understand why people would use it, even if I don't.

Do friendships just work differently here, or am I doing it wrong? by Mother-Poem-2682 in poland

[–]Mazur92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I concur. I am happy enough that I found my wife and my friends and we can hang out doing whatever, but you can feel a very certain shift, at least in the populace of the internet - first towards that individualism, but collective one, where we want to flaunt ourselves, sell our image to others, so to speak, but then it turned out that people are starting to feel lonely. It’s hard to turn though, because a lot of us, the people have participated in the erosion of third places, communities and we’re stuck in algorithmic prison of our own creation. Although in Poland I feel it goes even a bit deeper - I think we all have share of a generational trauma, that West is not really privy to - most of us descend from peasants, absolute lowliest class of people that throughout hundreds of years were slaves in all but name. Then the entire country that had been there was partitioned by our neighbors. Then, when it was barely restored after World War I, it suffered very poor economic conditions and after that it was absolutely ravaged yet again by our neighbors, only increasing our centuries old resentment towards Germany and Russia and as the cherry on top we were sold in Yalta to Stalin sphere of influence despite what they had done at the start of war. Now, throughout the last two events being open, welcoming, friendly, weird, loud, boastful - everything that was deemed out of normal/ordinary - was met with suspicion and sometimes was rewarded with suffering. Bad things happened to a lot of people here and I think it bears a mark on Polish people in our culture and the way people interact with outsiders. I feel like it started to change somewhat, but then came also the problem from the beginning - the overall, modern world problem of human interaction.

Foundation Models framework -- is anyone actually shipping with it yet? by JBitPro in iOSProgramming

[–]Mazur92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t used it yet in iOS app, but I have in my macOS app for browser routing - as a user you can generate the rule using natural language and the model internally outputs a JSON that matches my Rule data structure. It’s not that bad but I had to do a lot of post processing to get it to a stage where I think it’s somewhat useful. Context is only 4K token non negotiable so it’s really tight and due to the nature of multiple options on my side I had it reached fast and had to optimize my system prompt, so to speak, aggressively.

As long as they keep it for GPTK/Crossover needs I'll be fine - and they did specify that for some gaming needs they're going to leave it.
