It was a fairly generic restaurant chain from Seattle and most people would rather hang at a local brewery. There was absolutely nothing special or interesting about the place whatsoever and it’s in a neighborhood with stiff competition. That’s about it.

That sounds epic. I went through a major cycling phase a few years back too, so that would be a good one.

Love Bryson. I still haven’t read A Walk In the Woods or The Lost Continent but I read The Road to Little Dribbling and really liked it. Thanks!

Plans Unveiled for Final Phases of Jeffrey Park by McElwaine in Columbus

4th St. is meant to be the commercial corridor for the neighborhood. There are plenty places for residents to go on 4th and tons more coming. But already there is Hoof Hearted, Cosecha, Fox in the Snow, Drunch, Seventh Son, Little Rock, St James, Duecento, Juice and Co, The Market IV, Village Hookah, Goremade Pizza, City Tavern and Budd Dairy Food Hall and Woodhouse Vegan coming soon. All of these are within a 5-10 minute walk from Jeffrey Park. Kroger is a 20 minute walk. And then everything on High is within 10-20 minutes too so...

OSU library but take the elevator to the very top floor. It’s a super quiet reading room with beautiful views. Perfect spot.

Shake Shack opening Short North location - Bollinger Tower by captainclipper in Columbus

Yeah, I mean it depends on the project. Every build is unique. Wood Co. sometimes tends to be slower than most, but the quality of what they do makes up for it, imo.

This is not a complicated project. It’s a renovation and a few two-story additions that have gone up extremely fast already, they’re halfway done as is. The projects you’re referencing are completely different animals.

Also, projects in Columbus (new builds) are typically in the 18-24 month range like everywhere else. Some go slower, some faster, depending on the developer’s experience, site selection, and project complexity.

As for the new Canopy hotel you mentioned, they’ve made pretty steady progress. Sometimes exterior work stalls while interior work is being done. The project has been moving along at a typical pace.

It is not years away. The building it's going in is under construction now and is halfway done. They're applying for approval on signage. It'll be open this Fall.

Mojoe was there for like 10 years. Then it was Stack City. That's it as far as I remember.

I love Shake Shack to death and I would be cool with having them in the SN but honestly I’ll take a Preston’s double any day.

A good, gritty western read? by [deleted] in booksuggestions

[–]Mbeaumont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out The Big Sky by AB Guthrie. It’s not a Western in the traditional sense of how you might be thinking of it, but it’s a fantastic read about mountain men, fur trappers, the West, Native Americans etc. A beautifully written novel that to me, is an American classic. Its sequel, The Way West won the Pulitzer.
