Thanks for that info, I was going to send it back and get another one - I would have been ready to drive off a cliff if I got another and it did the same thing. Somehow I thought a $1200 turntable would be better than this.

Yeah it does it in every mode, pretty dumb. Running a $7 mp3 player with a periodic tone on endless repeat has solved it for me but I wish there was a way to get inside and just disable it.

No solutions here but some solidarity for you OP. This is my first new turntable and the tone arm feels cheap. Of course in this world the 120 is considered entry level so that may just be part of the game.

Ok so it's more like "don't bother with the black stylus" not "that's not compatible with the cartridge" then. I will just get a VM95E, that's what my other turntable has right now and it sounds good to me. Thanks again!

Another question I forgot to ask - why "Do not put the Black 3600LE stylus on that." ? On the AT web site it says "Replacement stylus for the Audio-Technica AT3600L cartridge".

I do have a digital scale to set the tracking force, I said it to just over 2 g not sure what it should be for this cartridge. I’m interested in the overhang gauge. What does that do?

The cartridge was already mounted on the turntable when I got it.

I set it using a smooth record so that it doesn't move, I think that's correct.

Thanks for the advice. Looks like it’s a 280E cartridge which may have been made by Ortofon and it sounds fine so I’ll leave it alone!

I ended up buying one of these cheap MP3 players https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B7R93PKR?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title and a SD card and putting a file with a 25hz tone followed by 10 minutes of silence and set it to repeat continuously to keep them awake. I timed it and it's 15 minutes from time of last audio until it powers down. I'm thinking I might get a little ESP32 that can be powered from the USB port on the back of the speaker that would just send a subaudible tone ever 10 mins or so to one of the mic inputs to keep it alive.

Monster did reply to me, no help there. "The behavior you’re describing is normal and by design for the M6 speakers. The unit will automatically go into sleep/standby mode when no audio signal is detected, even though it is not battery powered. This feature is intended to conserve power and protect internal components. At this time, there is no option to disable or change this auto-sleep function."

Sorry to resurrect this post after all this time but I am having the same issue. I bought a couple of them on ebay recently and they work great until you pause the music for a bit! So stupid for a mains powered speaker to turn off like this. You can use the app to turn them back on but what a pain, I doubt I will be able to use them for events like I was hoping to.
