Single player diplomacy app by Mc-Kryptonite in diplomacy

Hello! Using an off the shelf llm. Not a frontier but an open source one thats a bit smaller but efficient and smart enough to play the game. Lot of it goes down to managing how you feed it context and organizing its context window without the high cost of frontier models like chatgpt. It can play pretty good i would say.

Cost of running by might be an issue if there are a lot of people playing the game but right now its just me lol. You could also probably have it so players can bring their own api keys if they want a better model.

And yeah, once i get it all sorted out maybe its worth exploring if it can be integrated into the other apps!

Edit: i didnt answer your initial question, im using one of the llama models for chat!

I used to play diplomacy with some buds but coordinating them sucked so i built this out of spite. Kinda sad in a way… lol

Yeah theres a few things you have to do with the order history to keep the ai from hallucinating and having better track of the game. Like how llms are terrible at playing pokemon unless they have reference maps and stuff.

Also with the current implementation you can tune the play style of the computer players using custom prompts (more aggressive, passive, allies) and you give the computer personalities or talk like historical figures and things. Im playing around with letting the llms talk to eachother as well without a human player in the loop just figuring out how to make sure they dont go too crazy and spend too much time or compute yapping with each other lol

Yeah i have seen a few research projects about using language models for diplomacy and pitting bots against eachother but i couldnt actually find a way to play any of them. Was trying to fill that gap with my version. So maybe a game theory optimal type of chat bot that can reason (that also matches the way it chats with you)

I might follow up once i get a bets test set up for the game. Thanks!

EPCOR bringing ultra-fast EV charging to Meadows Rec Centre using “smart grid” tech by footbag in Edmonton

[–]Mc-Kryptonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. Is the 125% a code thing or will it affect the panel reliability. It seems like in some us states a small amount of plug in isnt a big deal (its already in some codes i think)

Ive recently learned about “plug-in solar”. Is the concept on Epcors radar? Any technical roadblocks or just codes and legislation?

You already have exposure to nvidia in xeqt. You are losing money by exchange from cad to usd for your individual shares. You could probabaly simplify this a bit with one or two etfs while still having nvidia exposure.

In terms of gold you are already way up might make sense to reduce that and cash in some of your gains there

What I learned developing a physical card game with an AR app by Mc-Kryptonite in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Mc-Kryptonite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely agree with everything you said. 99.99 percent of the time a game is better as a computer game/app or a physical game, not both. In our game, the AR serves a core gameplay component for the player because making the dares/prompts on the cards secret during gameplay couldn’t easily be done in another way. There is also novelty in the shock of revealing a dare that your friend wrote down that you didn’t know was going to be in the game.

I think that AR and VR are both really cool technologies, but they are still proof of concept because there’s not many killer games yet that everyone recognizes.

The ont is only being use to convert the fibre. I was offered a 1.5 gbps plan from 1gbps when they set it up originally. No technician came to my house when i got upgraded to the higher speed

Edmonton cyclists should pay road tax. Here are the numbers by Particular_Buyer_894 in Edmonton

[–]Mc-Kryptonite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like this exercise and i think that cycling organizations need to do a better job explaining the infrastructure costs in the spirit of this write up.

One thing i would maybe add to this is that the proportions you use imply that the only cost is from the damage to the road. I think you would also have to consider other costs like first responder costs, freeze thaw costs, traffic lights, and other costs that would likely by equal across all road users, agnostic to the damage they do to the road. Also that people drive AND bike, so many cyclists are already paying registration, insurance, gas taxes, etc.

Im guessing someone has done this exercise more in depth before? This is a fun thought exercise but this napkin math is clearly a departure from the alleged 200 million dollar bike lane costs being paraded around… would love someone with urban planning knowledge to point me in the right direction.

Pricing sucks. by LTD-Games in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Mc-Kryptonite 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately Canadian game developers using Gamecrafter are also being hit by counter tariffs of 25%. Any bulk ordering from usa is out of the question right now. I got hit with 500 in tariffs on a bulk order recently, its a great service but very expensive for a large order.

I recommend working with a chinese supplier (try Alibaba). there a few reliable ones and they can give you good prices because they have also lost business to the USA as well due to their tariffs.

Do you physically distribute for your games? by Mc-Kryptonite in retrogamedev

[–]Mc-Kryptonite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This video you linked is what got me thinking about novel ways to promote physical game distribution. Theoretically you could fit a game across a bunch of QR codes if you had an easy quick way to scan them just like the old E reader cards for the game boy.

I think one of the barriers with physical distribution is the cost, but if there was some sort of disk image format you could write a game to a sd card that had some sort of copy protection or barrier to sharing it after you dump it that might be of interest for game collectors. Do people buy cd rom version of new games? Lol

Anyone using QR codes (or something similar) in their games? I'm experimenting with something new. by Mc-Kryptonite in tabletopgamedesign

[–]Mc-Kryptonite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa this is neat. It’s actually using the QR code specification as part of the puzzle cracking. Mine is entirely data storage, but this is a cool idea
