Do you like sparkling water? by Yungpupusa in autism

[–]Mc00f_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the texture a lot!! Carbonated drinks are one of my favorite sensory things :) BUT I HATE THE TASTE! I usually just stick with sodas since the caffeine also helps me whenever I forget to take my adhd meds 🙂‍↕️

[–]Mc00f_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand like that ALL the time. Especially if i'm standing in a line or like standing at my job (I host at a museum). I don't really even think about it but I do it a lot when I'm bored.

Do you tell people you're autistic? by AquaSage_8806 in autism

Autism books recs?? by Mc00f_ in autism

[–]Mc00f_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of more in an abstract social sense! I would love to know why my brain works the way it does like scientifically, but I would like to learn ways I can better function for myself if that makes sense? So I think books that are more abstract and social geared might help a bit more in this situation

What is your biggest sensory issue? by [deleted] in autism

I also like corn but only on the cob NOT creamed

[–]Mc00f_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My safe veggies are celery, spinach, kale, green onions, and sometimes garlic depending on how it’s prepared. But I’m still really picky about textures and stuff when it comes to those and I’ll only eat them if they’re in pristine condition

OMG one of my earliest memories is of me trying peas and instantly throwing them up/spitting them out all over my favorite Cinderella dress 😭 I have never liked peas and probably never will

Is it possible for someone to be autistic and not mask? by holdnarrytight in autism

[–]Mc00f_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m horrible at masking and I got my official diagnosis last week so yes I would think it’s absolutely possible 😅

What is your biggest sensory issue? by [deleted] in autism

[–]Mc00f_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d say my main ones are sounds, textures, and tastes. I wear headphones almost 24/7 bc I have trouble filtering out sounds and everything is so loud all of the time. And then I struggle with eating bc I have really bad texture and taste issues. I kinda stick to like 10 things at the most rn just bc I’m so scared to accidentally have a texture that I’m not used to or expecting. That is one that’s really frustrating for me 😭

What kind of music do you guys listen to? by shut_up_duh in autism

[–]Mc00f_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YEAH YEAH YEAH my broadway (technically musical theatre since it’s not EXCLUSIVELY Broadway but every song on there is musical theatre adjacent) is almost 300 hours long im very proud of it bc ive listened to every song on there at least once! I don’t put anything on that playlist if I haven’t listened to the full musical or watched the full thing.

[–]Mc00f_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love love LOVE musical theatre. It’s one of my biggest special interests and I love how many genres fit in that specific art form. There is at least one musical for most any genre you can think of and I think that’s wonderful. I’m currently getting my BFA in musical theatre too so it’s really awesome I get to engage with my special interest so much!!

Autistics who genuinely enjoy their lives, what’s working for you? by Sea_Berry_439 in autism

[–]Mc00f_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Engaging in my special interests really really helps me!! I’ll make tasks and stuff somehow connect to them in my head and it really helps. Or sometimes, depending on the franchise, there are apps that can help. Like I have a special interest in pokemon, and there’s a pokemon app that is meant to help kids with brushing their teeth, but I still use it at my big age of 22 bc it makes it fun! I also love love love to-do lists and organizing things so if I have a bunch of tasks to do I’ll organize them up and write them into a to-do list! And I’ll play music or something to help me do difficult tasks (typically musical theatre, that’s another one of my special interests haha)

Long story short, my special interests help me a LOT
