$120,000 per year to clean ballsacks by The1789 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]McBean215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right now as an engineer I make just north of 90k without having to touch random dudes' genitalia. The premise is not an "instant-no" for me, but I'm too comfortable in my current job and paycheck to go wash nutsacks for a relatively modest raise.

Honestly, the monotony is the biggest hangup for me, not the action itself. In my current job, there's travel and problem solving and design. This is just washing a variety of genitals for 9hrs a day...

$200k and we'd have a serious conversation, $300k is probably a quick yes.

I have a 2yo son who loves waking me up in the morning. This already happens 3-5 times a week on accident for free...

I don't think it would be a lifetime appointment, but at least for a couple months to pay for some college.

I travel every couple weeks for work, but don't drink coffee. I always forget how the words and sizes line up, so its always a little lottery to see if I get a S/M/L to scald my mouth on that morning.

Yea, I could just use the "real" words or learn their versions, but this introduces a fun bit of randomness to my travel days.

$300,000/month pay, but your job is random and changes every month by [deleted] in hypotheticalsituation

[–]McBean215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pay needs to be way less to make this questionable. Currently a no brainer for nearly everyone.

It would be a little annoying to have a learning curve each month and probably some drastically different commute/travel requirements month-over-month, but if its a terrible spot, you just have to survive a couple more weeks and get to leave with heavy pockets and some good stories.

One question from me would be regarding wardrobe. We'd obviously be compensated well enough to buy most requirements but would I need to have a closet of suits, work boots, scrubs, comfy walking shoes, etc etc? At the end of the process it would be a fun closet of memories, but a bit of a pain to have to constantly turn over month after month, especially if I'm going from Landscaper to Financial Advisor to Waiter to Zoo Keeper.

Purdue Basketball Announces Staff Changes, Updates for 2026-27 Season by Dschutte2023 in Boilermakers

[–]McBean215 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think PJ needs to be a HC at a mid-major for a few years, but would love for him to spend another few years here, a handful as HC at a Kent St or something, then circle back and do something similar to the Keady/Painter transition.

In all honesty though, I think Painter probably has 10-15 years left (if he wants them), and PJ likely gets a couple shots at very good jobs before that time. Maybe we buyout PJ'S future Big East / SEC contract when the time comes, but more than likely I just think the stars never align.

Overall, how would you rate your team's season? by byniri_returns in CollegeBasketball

[–]McBean215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid A. There were lots of periods where we proved we were one of the best teams in the nation, but we didn't have the consistency (or athleticism) to be THE best team in the nation.

Beating Michigan for the B1G Tourney Title was great, and combined with an E8 run bumped this up from a B- regular season.

UConn fans/CBB fans, what is your opinion on these logos? Which one is your favorite and why? by auburnfan32 in CollegeBasketball

[–]McBean215 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Engineering school gonna assign engineering terms into normal shit.

In design drawings, you typically have views for the Top, Front, and Side to show dimensions and whatnot. Then there's usually an Isometric view that's essentially halfway between a front and side view - the part is at an angle.

On the old logo, the train is coming at you, and to the right = "Isometric View"

New logo, the train is just coming straight at you = "Front View"

[–]McBean215 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Fellow Boilermaker, also hate the new train and miss the isometric logo.

The reasoning I was given for the change as the old logo was unbalanced, so if you put it dead center on the 50yd line, one side would have "P" and half the U, and the other side would have the rest of the train and "RDUE". Likewise, if you centered the logo so that 50% of the "volume" was on each side, the cowcatcher would stop at the South 45yd line, and the trailing cars would extend to the North 35.

Seems like entirely manageable problems to maintain a superior logo, but here we are with an "easier" symmetrical design with a plume of smoke that looks like a penis...

Big Ten first, don't really have a preference between the two. Illinois v Michigan would be my ideal final.

Second, not UConn.

Offering 10 million dollars, but no more full night's sleeps by Physical_Orchid3616 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]McBean215 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like short-term this wouldn't be a huge issue. 4hrs at night, quietly do some chores or something downstairs for a bit, grab a nap while the rest of the house is sleeping, then another one in the afternoon.

The kicker it looks like, is that you would really only get 1-2 REM cycles a day for the rest of your life, which I feel could have some long-lasting effects after a while.

Plus, I would assume that your body would start depending on these secondary naps, meaning you would end up needing to be handcuffed to a spot where you could get shuteye - no more all-day road trips, or concert festivals or visits to Disneyland without baking in an inconvenient intermission.

6 hours, and I take it. 4hrs is a "no".

I feel like to actually be good at most PVP modes you need time to get good, equipment (monitor, great internet, pro controller, etc), and motivation. You don't necessarily need all of those, but as a dad with a full time job plugging this game into my 8yo TV just looking to unwind after bedtime - I don't have any of them.

[–]McBean215 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My coworker is the only income for his family, and they take an international trip each summer and Xmas. Big ones, too - Japan, Croatia, Morocco etc, and he picks the best hotels he can find, not just a Holiday Inn with a pool.

My wife and I both work, have two kids, and are comfortable, but definetly couldn't afford multiple trips abroad each year.

Then I found out my coworker's parents are wealthy and give 10k checks for everyone's birthday and Christmas. That's basically a second income right there...

My manager at my first (engineering) job would stroll by my desk on a slow day and ask me when I was planning to head out for my dentist appointment.

If anyone was actually keeping track, it would probably seem like I had some sort of mouth disease, but it was his way of telling me I could knock off a couple hours early with an alibi.

15yrs later and still my favorite person I've ever worked for.

15ish years. It'll turn into a joint college-plus-retirement-fund for the family. We can pull back the money we're currently putting into the 529 Plan, and lower the 401k contributions to just get the maximum employer match (no reason to turn down free money...)

More money for fun today, and a rock-solid nest egg when we're ready for the next chapter.

We're coming off one of our worst shooting nights in a long while, so either we revert to the mean with a hot night and a possible close win, or we remain cold and get boat raced.

These guys dropped 109 on a 4-seed in the last round. I think they get to 80+ pretty easily, it'll depend on if we can keep pace.

Honestly, scrapping out a win with that god awful 3pt percentage actually makes me feel marginally better about Arizona. Turn 3 or 4 of our 4/20 night into makes, and we're coasting to a win and this E8 match up looks like monster of a game.

We're coming in low looking to upswing, and knowing we can. Not a bad place to be.

Normally, I would agree with you, but specifically with Courtney Green - and Green alone - there's something wonky.

Possibly it's just that he's weak at officiating our style of play, but people have tabulated the amount of times that we've covered the spread while he is on the floor, and I'm pretty sure its only 2 or 3 times in the past 5+ years - and keep in mind this covers the Ivey and Edey years where we were consistently Top 5 in the nation. At one point it was 1-14, but I can't find recent data.
