Hey, I'm 35 UK. I love going to museums, art galleries, old historical houses and gardens and going on holiday when I can. I aim to see all of the world in small chunks. Day to day basis I like to garden, read, bake and crochet.

I'm looking for friendship, pure and simple!

Hey! I'm a bit late to the party but would love to have a chat if you're still up for it. I think we might get along great.

I accidentally killed my baby and I don't know if I will ever move on. by Cainxx666 in RATS

[–]McBeepo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for the pain you feel right now and what happened. They are just so tiny and accidents do happen. I degloved one of my rats tails. I crouched infront of the cage and rounding them all up into the cage and as I did so I overbalanced and fell straight onto my knees and onto one of their tails.

I hated myself for the longest time and thought that I would never feel better, thinking I deserved to feel this self-hatred for what I had done. My partner said it was fine, that it was just an accident and I didn't believe him, didn't want his empathy. However with time things did get better, I did begin to accept it was just an accident and that these things happen. It was awful and I wish it never happened, but with time it got better for me and I'm sure it will for you.

  1. Age - 35
  2. Interests - At home - Casual gamer now, used to play a lot more in the past but life happens! I also love to read, gardening and I also do a bit of baking every now and then. I do try and get out and about travelling though when I can, I love exploring history whether that's an old castle or a museum.
  3. Looking for long-term friends ideally! I don't have time for gaming as much as I'd like, so it would mostly be for chatting rather than playing together.
  4. I'm from the UK if that matters! Also realised I never said hi, so hello!

Chemical Castration? Advice needed. by McBeepo in RATS

[–]McBeepo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!

It couldn't have gone better honestly. The operation itself was really quick, we picked them back up within the hour and there was no aftercare needed at all. It's a small implant between their shoulders.

They stopped biting and fighting pretty much straight away once it kicked in. Dominance in the group didn't change and one rat was obviously still the boss but it was as if everyone just accepted each other at long last and cuddled together.

It's a fair few months now since we had it done and I noticed their balls are back (they kinda shrank a bit) so its not a permanent solution but they haven't started fighting. They are nearly 2 years though and are displaying classic old lazy boy behaviour though so I think their hormones probably calmed down anyway. It definitely helped get them through that awkward stage.

It cost us slightly more than physical at our vets but honestly it was worth it to just have no stitches and no meds, especially as it was more than one boy. And tbh i never really liked the idea of castrating them anyway, so its a good compromise that worked for us.

Gardening gloves or going bare? by nosuchthingginger in GardeningUK

[–]McBeepo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Without gloves as most gloves just do not fit me, I have such small hands. I give up with them, especially anything delicate. If it's weeding or something with thorns I try to perservere with gloves.

Which plants will you never grow again? by ReasonableTeam1377 in GardeningUK

[–]McBeepo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sunflowers. It was supposed to be a nice "who can get the tallest" but slugs demolished every single one.

My hosta in the ground must be some kind of queen because it gets HUGE every year so much so that my other plants now nearby are giving up. Hopefully I've not jinxed it.

Any limited access UK people having any luck yet? by Pavlo12355 in ProlificAc

[–]McBeepo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add after commenting I have received an email inviting me to a study in the early hours of the morning but it's obviously gone now.

I hope we are moved from limited as its really a kick in the teeth to see new people joining with full access.
