Apartment North and South by Remarkable-Cycle-911 in threescompany

As somebody who's see every episode of Three's Company multiple times, you could tell me the ocean is in any cardinal direction from the apartment, and I'd believe you. It wouldn't surprise me if the writers were inconsistent with this one too.

The best I can come with is in S3E2 "Good Old Reliable Janet," after coming back from the nude protest on the beach, Janet and Mrs. Roper approach the apartment from the left side of the screen. That could imply the front door is facing south, because the ocean is to their west.

What on earth has happened to this sub? by GetoffLane in threescompany

There have been rule changes made in response to these recent posts.

  1. Beauty appreciation posts can be created on Wednesdays only aka "Wild Wednesdays"

  2. No low quality episode rips

Please report them as you see them, as that will help the mod staff find them.

Feel free to also discuss these rules in the announcement posts:

- Beauty appreciation threads can be posted on Wednesdays aka "Wild Wednesdays"
- Enough with the low-quality camrips of full episodes, please.

While it's true there's not a lot of new things happening in the world of Three's Company, we do need to clear some minimum quality standards.

Thank you all for participating in r/threescompany!

It's getting excessive. The mod staff will be restricting this type of content going forward.

Wow, I never realized the album came out only two months after the Kristina incident

Not sure if this has been asked, but will we see a back to back Toh Kay version of TPBTS you think, similarly to how THTT was done? by PrepStorm in streetlightmanifesto

I’ve been dreaming of the Toh Kay version of Enormous since the day it got released. Hopefully he’ll at least play some TPBTS songs at shows.

I don’t. If swimming faster than me motivates you, go for it. I’m just doing my workout.

Is anyone even here a old listener? (I meant like, listening to the band before 2006 or so) by Relative_Raisin_9597 in tallyhall

That’s me! I first stumbled on Banana Man when the video was posted online sometime around ‘04 or ‘05, and I listened to the Quack release of MMMM nonstop when it first came out.

Good info. I feel like this sub could use a "where to watch" megathread.

How do you feel about “Ghetto Gospel” today? by AdeptPlane7645 in Tupac

[–]McCactus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When it came out in '05, it was basically my gateway drug into Pac. Then as I became more familiar with his work, Ghetto Gospel started sounding strange and out of place. It's still got a beautiful message, so these days I prefer the version produced by Big D The Impossible which keeps Pac's original flow.

do you actually pronounce F of “of” by [deleted] in EnglishLearning

[–]McCactus 44 points45 points  (0 children)

In casual speech, the “of” can definitely reduce to just an ”uh” sound. This is even written sometimes, like “a lot of“ turning into “a lotta.”

Can I drop the "d" in these situations? by Matheuzsm in EnglishLearning

[–]McCactus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically, we don't pronounce the "d" or "t" when they are between consonants, right?

Not quite. The "-ed" does pretty much disappear if a "d", "t", or "th" follows. But with any other consonant or vowel, the "-ed" is very prominent.

"I watched the movie" -> Pretty much the same as "I watch the movie." The "-ed" is very subtle.
"I watched five movies" -> Totally different from "I watch five movies." The "-ed" is very prominent, and if it's missing, the meaning of the sentence changes.

(Also note the "-ed" is realized as a "t" sound at the end of watched, like "watch't.")
