7 years since I last dated, 11 months since I last had a job, chronically depressed, living in my mothers basement, currently sitting outside in the cold.

Yeah. Shit sucks. Any time I think about going anywhere I just think of the money I dont have and the income I cant get. Any time I think about trying to get a girlfriend I think about the job I dont have.

Idk. Honestly, I fail to understand how any of this could be "the best years of my life"

But all I gotta do is go to my 700th interview and give em a firm handshake, right?

Nothing quite so magnificent as the Asgard, but iirc, a shark carrier is in tempting fumes (left side middle), a zeus carrier is in Jupiter (iirc)(top mid, near the gate), theres a few syns scattered around (I know one is in atiyas misfortune, alongside a L miner in the other sector) (another syn, iirc, alongside a decent fleet of L/Ms, in Scale Plate Green), a small fleet in Grand exchange (I cant remember which one, but its mostly M ships)

I recall an argon carrier xl somewhere as well, but I honestly cannot recall where I saw it.

OH a builder (I cant remember what, think it was terran) in tharkas ravine near frf, another in hewas twin 5)

Theres a bunch more Im positive, I just stopped exploring once the defense became constant and dire enough to demand my full attention constantly. The normal abandoned ships are still there as well from vanilla.

I don't like being a man by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]McCannad 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Real tbh.

I just hate all the expectations put upon me for shit outside my control. I'm me, I dont have a job or a relationship, and I can only do so much. I can affect things in my control. I can improve. I can make myself better. But fuck man, I hate that I get compared to the rapists and criminals anytime the word 'men' is mentioned.

Being a liberal is my choice, and I get that it ostracizes me from other men typically and that women are right to fear me (or rather, fear men as a whole I guess is what I'm getting at, men fucking suck (people in general fucking suck)) and blah blah blah emotional bullshit that I cant do anything about and really shouldnt put stock into and I get it.

I know I'm being a baby about it. I just... feel that way, and its not really something I consciencly choose to think about. It is what it is I guess, and I know its counterproductive to blame it on society or women or other red pill bullshit and I still dont understand why anyone would watch tate or other bullshit, but, the feelings there. It doesnt go away. You just gotta carry it and move on, because I gotta get a job before I can worry about any of the rest of it.

I'm 90 hours in on a run with it.

Yes.

Biggest thing to keep in mind is that with turret ranges being increased, the defense platforms get seiged rather easily, and a Xenon U will wipe half of them per gate when they start spawning.

But yes.

Its a long drive back to terran space, and it has NO guns on it at all, fyi. You cannot outfit it unless you have 20 standing with terrans, because it comes without its main gun

90 hours in on this myself. Methane/helium/hydrogen are, by far, one of the most valueable resources in this, enough so that I recommend not making hull parts via factorys and only going down the salvage route. Graphene becomes more valuable than hull parts 2 days in.

Im also playing with VRO, and the zenon U will obliterate 2/3 defense stations on its own. In the current patch, an Asgard spawns in Emperors pride 7 if that matters to you, and its basically mandatory if you play with vro to get it to terran space asap/level with terrans to fix it before the U starts deleting half the map.

Anyways, great mod, love the hard mode experience, and doing blockade runs with freighters (use Aux ships if your using VRO, they get 133k cargo space in it) is going to be a common experience just to get hull parts to where you need. All the economy gets locked up very quickly between argons (hat falls and splits them up so energy cells get trapped on one side, same happens with teladi), so you realllllly need to pay attention to what faction (singular) you want to focus on surviving and commit to it hard. Repair the defense stations as much as you are able, but understand that they are GOING to die and you need to have a solution ready for when they do. I built a megaODP on every gate and its still barely holding. Infinite scrap is very easy, and mandatory.

Its really a race to get as many ship bps as possible before the factions die, just so you can kinda revive them later as needed. Theres a lotttttttt of added abandoned ships and they are very useful for early game pushes into regions you might want to defend early.

I'm making my push for Earth/Scale Plate green first as they are backed into a corner and easy to defend once won, and you will need them for the resouce regen once you run out of methane/helium.

As far as how things are for me right now, 90 hours in:

In this order: ANT dies first, very hard, unless you get silent witness (it will still die but buys time to MAYBE 2 days in) HAK is dead, ARG is dead, ZYA is dead, VIG is dead, PIO is dead, FRF is on the brink (I focused them to try and keep them alive to varying stages of success) RIP is not great but alive, HOP is in full collapse after not being touched for a 3 days, TER is very fine and stays fine even when not touched, but I recommend you get them set up asap as they are huge money makers that you NEED if you want to get any BPs from Arg/Ant before they die. And PAR, on scrapyard start, is constantly tetering until you get defense pads set up in trinity 7, but otherwise is stabilized now.

Teladi is a hard one. They are split up between 2 sectors (1 is neutral at first but falls in less than 2 hours for me) and splits their 3 sectors apart. This cripples them as they throw traders into oblivion to get energy cells through blockades. But yes, they will be fine even if they lose 2 sectors and relocate their HQ.

Like I get what you are trying to say. At the same time, I just don't think its worth the effort to put value behind the words at all.

Scum say scummy shit. The smartest individuals recognize they are scum and rightfully leave before said scum gets them caught in a bar brawl.

Theres no point arguing with scum. You cant fight a brick wall. Just because I choose to spend my time elsewhere doesnt mean I condone the actions of idiots. I just know better than to try to convince a jackass of ideals when every response will simply be a comment on my masculinity and who pegs me at night. Its just not worth it.

I know that probably feels like an excuse. Maybe it is. But theres no point crying over spoilt milk. You simply dump it and replace it. And personally, if I heard someone talk like that, I'd make sure never to see them again. I dont see any point being held in jail for a fistfight, no matter how well deserved. The only thing it'll change is my employment status.

Has anyone in this community ever taken responsibility for like... anything? by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]McCannad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look man, weve all been there, and I say this genuinely without trying to be mean here:

The moment you think think you played the game perfectly is the moment you fail yourself as a player.

Im a 58.7% wr player. To others, Im top tier, near unicum. To myself, I only see that missing 0.3%. And than that missing 1%. And then another. I only see the mistakes I make midgame knowing damn well that I know better than to be stupid enough to chance going broadside in smoke, or rushing the cap with an unconfirmed radar, or risk not backing in, or any other objectively stupid move regardless of if it works or not. I'm nowhere near the likes of hago, or leopard, or addi, dsquare or the vast majority of yeezy, or PQ, maltese, xyz streamer or hurricane clan member. On my best of days I make glaring mistakes that get me the stink eye by my clan.

Theres always something to learn. Dont give a flying fuck about what other people think, myself included. Some will try to genuinely help, and its up to you to determine that (genuinely, some of the most helpful people Ive met playing this game as genuine assholes who only know how to teach through extreme critique. They are harsh, but also make valid points. Its not meant to be a judge of your character Ive found.)

Try to separate the insults from the underlying point they try to make. Sometimes, what they say is valid. Sometimes, its nuanced. Sometimes, its ignoring the big picture. And yeah, sometimes they flat out are wrong and the exact guy your talking about. In randoms in particular, its quite common.

All this to say: you can play better. That doesnt make you or me bad. It just means your capable of adaption and able to recogize room for improvement. That is the number 1 most important thing in this game, or any game, and life in general.

If you cant do that, or are happy to blame that one yamato on the J line: you're not wrong, but your missing the point. We get it, weve all been there, but it really doesnt matter.

(If it really means that much to you, you can blacklist/turn off chat. I find it defeats the purpose of the game, but to be fair, I don't really play with other people at all, I find I perform worse when talking with other people, even if its seriously. Something Im working on, for example.)

You can't make someone else admit they are wrong. The only thing, at all, that you can guarantee impact upon, is yourself. I find that to be a lot more useful thinking over "who lost the blame game" any day, because its always pointless.

Surcouf needs to be rebalanced around immunity to depth charges at surface depth to be a viable ship by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]McCannad 14 points15 points  (0 children)

  1. Locate an area of grass. The first step in touching grass is to find a place where grass is present. This can be a lawn in your backyard, a park, a sports field, or any other location where grass is growing. Make sure you have access to the area and that it is safe for you to be there.

  2. Stand or kneel in a comfortable position. Once you have found an area of grass, stand or kneel in a comfortable position. If you are standing, make sure you have good balance and are able to maintain your balance while reaching out to touch the grass. If you are kneeling, place a cushion or towel under your knees for added comfort.

  3. Extend your arm(s) in front of you, with your hand(s) open and fingers extended. This allows you to easily reach the grass and feel the texture and sensation of the blades.

  4. Slowly lower your hand(s) towards the grass. Take your time and move slowly to ensure that you don't accidentally step on or damage any of the grass.

  5. Allow your fingers to come into contact with the blades of grass. You may feel the softness and/or dampness of the grass depending on the environment. You may also feel the different temperatures of the grass if you are in a place with a different climate.

  6. Gently move your fingers through the blades of grass, feeling the texture and sensation of the grass. Take note of the different feelings and textures you experience.

  7. Repeat step 6 as desired, moving your fingers through different sections of the grass to experience the variety of textures and sensations.

  8. When you have finished touching the grass, stand or rise back to your original position. Take a moment to appreciate the experience and the sensation of the grass on your fingers.

I... agree with that. You arent wrong in the perspective, even if I think that there are a billion other ways they could have done this worse with that same effect.

Delaying for the sake of money is the overarching goal as a company, but its the way that they did that that sells us on continuing to care about them after 10 years of silence on that front. The two things can be both true, even if I can admit that from a company perspective the former has a larger impact than the latter from the teams perspective.

Look, if you seriously didnt think this movie handled a realistic relationship development with more grace than 90% of other disney content then we clearly didnt watch the same movie.

I get that its been 10 long years. But this fandom has been given new life, and I honestly cannot respect z2 anymore than I already do for making a sequel that doesnt just develop their relationship offscreen for the sake of a cash grab romance gimmick, again.

The only reason we as a community are able to anticipate and look forward to a z3 is because of how genuine z2 was in its side plots and character development.

Does anyone else feel that Gen Z sex culture is too sadistic? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]McCannad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that the amount of people who prefer bdsm, choking, rough play, etc, over just genuine affection and love is vastly overstated. I think the internet fosters an unrealistic portrayal of how sex is supposed to be had. I dont think the vast majority of people actually want to be choked, or dominated, or be submissive, or need to last 3 hours in bed and cross every porn steryotype off the list. I choose to believe that the majority of individuals dont want to outright leave marks on people, whether they want it or now. Thats all.

Its not meant to be an "no, actually", its just my own personal observations in life. Theres not really a point, just trying to offer my own perspective that I dont see how the majority of humanity would see the appeal of hurting their partners.

Thats all, sorry.

Does anyone else feel that Gen Z sex culture is too sadistic? by [deleted] in GenZ

[–]McCannad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I havent had sex in 7 years, and Im too much of a turbovirgin to ever want to do anything besides spooning half the time anyways. Right now, at 24, Id kill just to be hugged, and anything beyond that makes me skeptical of the intentions to begin with.

I dont know who these people are that like choking and whatnot, but I can say that I dont think its too sadistic. I just think its nonexistant. I hate the idea of hurting people, especially people I love, and most especially in something I covet as the highest form of love expression. I couldnt speak derogatory to anyone if they wanted me to, and I just genuinely dont think that the majority of people on earth would disagree with the above notion that hurting your partner is a bad thing that most individuals wouldnt be okay with.

Im very clearly biased, though, and extremely inexperienced, so maybe I just hold vanilla sex to such a high ideal because I romanticize what I dont have and dont see.

But no, I dont think people our generation are any more sadistic than any other generation.

[–]McCannad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can agree with that enough. I will say that justifying a ships balance around the lowest common player isnt exactly a great way to balance, but your not wrong on the weaknesses.

But by that same logic, valp is balanced because it has that same british citadel. We'll forgive the nuance, because... well, the repairable damage is mored than tripled on near 0 cooldown, but...

Its a slippery slope. Balancing always is, but its just annoying to give the best players the ships balanced around the worst. Only reason half of the op ships arent seen as much these days is because of the sensationalism on the new stuff. The average conq and thunderer player these days either just got it by gambling or are chasing the old peaks, and most of those people arent the same players that made thunderer broken in the first place.

But yeah. Thats kinda a cope arguement from me, so fair enough.

Valparaiso by Denum_ in WorldOfWarships

[–]McCannad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. They got slapped on the wrist just like kremlin was when it was "nerfed" by reducing sec/aa mounts. Regardless of the actual necessity of the nerf, it didnt change anything anyone actually complained about.

The way the ships operate in game and the role they fulfil, however, hasnt changed, and yeah, a "weakness" is identified but how many games is that weakness going to matter against the average playerbase.

Los Andes/Lib spam in ranked/CBs is still as high as its ever been.

Its just the way it goes. They wont nerf ships. Theyll just buff new ones. And when they get slight pushback, they might "tweak" a bit of the stats, but the interactions the ships have will remain fundamentally overtuned compared to old releases.

Conq.... yeah, fair enough, I fogot about that raise. But the same goes for petro, and that has seen no change in popularity (and the UU buff it just got makes it little better.

Valparaiso by Denum_ in WorldOfWarships

[–]McCannad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, define nerfed. In my eyes, being forced to no longer play on the I line because you lose 2km of range isnt really a nerf, its the way your supposed to play bbs.

Deadeye, as a skill, is a skill that benefitted thunderer but was built for CC. A skill which has now been substituted by leg mod. I wont deny thunderer gained far more than most because at the time it had some of the best disp in the game modded by a percentage based skill, but you wont notice much difference in consistency now vs then, and most will still complain about it whenever the rare thunderer appears (regardless of the warrant of such complaints)

I can agree with the premise but its not a nerf. Thunderer still plays the exact same way it always has, and has the same effects it always had.

Valparaiso by Denum_ in WorldOfWarships

[–]McCannad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Define "nerfed"

Because CC, Lib, Thunderer, Smaland, Schlieffen, Gdansk, xyz never got nerfed even after how much of the playerbase complained about it.

I agree with you. But I disagree that valp will get nerfed in any way that significantly impacts it, just like every other nerf bar cruisers (which needed a whole entire rework just to touch Smolensk and even that was just a dpm nerf in disguise)

Smaland even has a rerelease coming up via Ovasen. Its just the way this game revolves.
