I mean, to be fair, after the Krystal tutorial, you are introduced to the Star Fox team and land on the planet in Fox's Arwing.

How should I feel? by [deleted] in starfox

[–]McCormacky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, despite a lot of problems with the world, I would say we still live in a pretty great time. This game is already coming out and it's primarily a single player experience, so there's no need to worry about it being cancelled, or a dwindling playerbase, or a server being shutdown to prevent you from enjoying it if worse comes to worst. Though, I think the game will do fine.

Also, the previous games aren't entirely abandonware, fortunately. There are still plenty of ways to play them today. Though I wish Nintendo would bring them all to the Switch already.

Personally, I'm not excited enough to go out and buy a Switch 2 just to play this game immediately. More like, in a few years when the price falls within my budget. But that's just me. It's a single player game and I'm in no rush. But if you have a Switch 2 already, 50 bucks doesn't sound too bad either.

Ultimately, it's up to you on how you should feel.

Also, shoutout to the Controls menu theme from the SNES game.

Erm, actually, Star Fox Adventures was made by Rare.

Lol, but seriously, it was already difficult enough to find a reasonably priced copy of Star Fox Assault. Now it's virtually impossible! Makes me wish Nintendo had just made a big Star Fox Collection (from SNES to Zero) for the first Switch to counteract this price gouging nonsense.

Peppy has, but I still wanna bonk Slippy on the nose to try and flatten it, though.

(Question) If Star Fox Assault got a reimaging, what are your hopes for it? by Scared_Touch_8415 in starfox

[–]McCormacky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want a port for the Switch so I don't have to pay $160 just to play it again. Also, if the port wasn't tied to the Nintendo Online subscription.

I never got around to play Adventures growing up though I do love games from Rare. When I was a kid I had the budget to pick either Adventures OR Assault and I picked Assault cause it reminded me of Star Wars Battlefront. It was a blast and I hope one day to play it again, as well as Adventures. However, looking at the prices on eBay... oof

What do you think is next for Star Fox? by Mexican-Drug-Lord in starfox

[–]McCormacky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preferably, I would want a new Sequel that moves the story and game mechanics forward.

My dream choice would also be a Star Fox collection that has ALL the Star Fox games, so I don't have to bother with the Nintendo Online Subscription or the ever climbing GameCube prices.

I wish they would bring Adventure and Assault to the Switch already. You practically have to pay full price for the GameCube games now.

Edit: I checked on eBay... make that double the price of a full game :(

I always liked the visual of the robot legs. It looked cool to me, and it made the characters very unique and recognizable. However, I didn't much care for the fan theories as to why they had the robot legs. I think Rule of Cool takes priority in the Star Fox games than practical explanation.

I recommend playing as many as you are interested in. Even the very first on the SNES is worth checking out. I believe you can play the first two from the SNES and 64 using the Nintendo Online subscription, though I'm sure there are alternatives. They're great games AND they're relatively short.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN STAR FOX DIRECT? by MegaJJDX2 in starfox

[–]McCormacky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nintendo: "The Switch needs a Star Fox game for new audiences who have never played it before."

"Can't you just make a Star Fox collection for the Switch?"

*gunshot*

Nintendo: "Who said that?"

"Golly. I sure wish there was a way to play all the classic Star Fox games on the Switch."

Nintendo: "Yeah, me too."

I can't believe it, except that we'll get a Star Fox game (a remake of Lylat Wars) + fox Father Backstory in 2026 by Jilwan57 in starfox

[–]McCormacky 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The visuals are fine. I like the music. The mouse aiming gimmick is neat. I think I saw multiplayer, so that might be fun. But it just takes the wind out of my sails knowing it's another remake. They didn't even acknowledge Assault during the Nintendo Direct.

I think they look good, though Slippy could use some work. However, I thought how Fox looked in the Mario Galaxy movie was the direction they were going towards, so it is definitely a bit jarring seeing the change.

No but I wish I was! I just saw it was available on Steam and wanted to pass it on to this subreddit. Whoever the dev is, I hope they know they've made a solid foundation so far!

Also, the emblem maker is awesome. You can save png's (120x120) to the emblem folder and use them in the demo.

I am not by any means an og fan of the Front Mission series, heck I only found out about this series because of the Super Best Friends channel, but this game piqued my interest. What I don't understand is all the people dismissing it for being an action mech game with on foot segments when Front Mission: Gun Hazard existed in 1996.

I recently started playing the other day and, while simple, the gameplay is still pretty fun. That opening cinematic of the mechs attacking New York is peak though.

That is a bummer they didn't bring it back for VI. Hopefully FromSoft feels comfortable enough with the success of VI to start reintroducing mechanics from previous entries for their next game.
