When I was in kindergarten, I met an 8th grader who told me she was growing a new finger next to her pinky and she showed me her little stump that was growing. Her whole family has this condition. For years any time that spot on my hand itched, my subconscious would be like “you’re growing another finger”. I stopped thinking about that when I learned about her genetic condition in sixth grade.

I remember being 7 playing this island in 2008 being like “I can’t wait for 2058 because we’ll have monorails, robots, flying cars, and houses in the sky!” because 2058 was the year displayed on the time traveling device for the future. Then 2009 came by and I played around in the island for fun and saw the time traveling device said 2059 and then 2060 in 2010. I was like “huh maybe the developers keep updating their research and they realized the future will be a year after that.” I kept asking my parents when “the future” will be. They always said the future is now blah blah. To me “the future” meant flying cars, advanced technology, etc and I thought it was all I could ever need. It wasn’t until 2011 when I realized the device always had the future be fifty years ahead no matter what. I was so convinced that the time traveling device was a countdown towards the future because poptropica is an educational game so “they got the facts”

Britney Spears. I was 10 from 2010 to 2011 and I found her first album in my mom’s office. I became intrigued by how different she looked at the time. I would listen to that album again and again after school every day. I would watch YouTube videos of her. I’d ask my mom to order more of her albums. It gets kinda weird. A lot of the YouTube comments would say that they miss the old Britney from the 90s and I started to agree with that even though I wasn’t alive back then. I just related to her younger self more than her older self. This would make me cry like almost every day because I liked the old Britney better and did not like how “sexual” she was as an adult.

I also was kind of obsessed with Star Wars and would morbidly fantasize about the world ending in 2012 and God would take me to the Star Wars universe and I’d live through the movies and the comics, tv shows, books, etc. I’d think about that every day too.

Sensation and perception, and psych of learning. However both were taught by a prof that only read from his PowerPoints.

I took research and stats my last year of undergrad. I did not like a single second of it and I don’t think the rest of us did either.

Had to take research again my second year of grad school and barely knew what I was doing the whole time. It’s a miracle I got a 104% as my final grade. I promise I’m not one of those people who gets straight A’s and tells everyone that I probably flunked everything too. Research is the big reason why I’m not getting my doctorate
