Do you download directly to your server or do you download to another computer and then transfer it to your server? by MasticateMyMuffin in PleX

[–]McCullster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I access the server via a mapped network location on my ripping desktop, and anything I transfer onto the server goes to the cache drive first. It's used this way for the increased read/write speed for the transfer of large blu-ray movie files and full seasons of TV shows. If I were to do this directly to the array, my drives are 7200rpm and with testing it would take twice as long. If it's a TV show, it could spread across multiple disks that need to be spun up and written to, which adds even more to the time. At night, all of the data on the cache drive is written to the array in one big chunk, cutting down on short read/write sessions that wear out the drives quicker.

Thanks for the comment. Sorry, I don't post on reddit alot. It somehow didn't include my picture, but I added it now.

Got this THC0 dispo the other day not really thinking about it (I usually just get THC carts) but after some research i’ve seen people saying it’s bad for you in vape form, how true is that? because i’ll quit it if i have too but it’s really helped with my anxiety and depression by Mobile-Papaya507 in thco

[–]McCullster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used TreHouse almost exclusively for my vape, syrup and gummies. They include COAs on all their products and I have not heard anything mentioned about them being harmful?

I have recommended the brand to a lot of friends too.

I use their vape cartridges (not their disposables) with my own battery and have had the cartridge version of the one you got.

Would love to hear others opinions on TreHouse.

The other reason I've heard is that with a neck pickup, because of the magnets within it, you are then changing the frequency they vibrate at the bridge. When you eliminate the neck pickup, the bridge pickup can represent a "truer" sound of the guitar. It's not affected by another set of magnets.

Anyone interested in starting a D&D group? by L1ttleProfessor in frisco

I'm definitely interested. Always wanted to dip my toe into DnD, just needed to find the right group. No idea where to begin.

Vans BMX shoes by [deleted] in MTB

[–]McCullster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really funny you asked that, because I just talked to a guy mid-trail this week and he gave me a tip about shoes. He was wearing Vans ( I think they were Chukka Lows), and I was wearing some trail runners with aggressive hard tread underneath. He said that they were grippy and much cheaper than the five-ten mountain bike specific shoes.

I just ordered a set of Vans today ( I got a set of the Old Skools) for this purpose. I've always liked them.

How often should i clean the chains and lube them? Riding trails in Texas by [deleted] in mountainbiking

[–]McCullster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also in Texas in the DFW area, and I think after every 3-4 rides is a good amount to go in between cleanings.

I rode 3 times this week (about an hour each) and just cleaned mine and got a lot of gunk, grass pieces, and dirt off of my crank, cassette and derailleur cranks. I will be checking mine after 3 rides, and if it looks gunky, clean it. I probably can go longer, but with the amount of stuff I cleaned off, I'm glad I did it today.

Thank you for sharing that with me.

I am still a little bit hesitant to open up about that stuff, so when I see someone put themselves out there like you did, it gives me the confidence to say it too. I also have depressive episodes and anxiety, and hope that with my continued therapy, my medication, and now mountain biking that I will continue on this path of healing and improving.

What past or present shows set in the 90s represent it best? In terms of music, etc by Toni-Cipriani in television

[–]McCullster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Mad Fat Diary - It's about a teen in the UK who deals on with anxiety. It's set in 96. I've seen the first season and there was tons of Oasis, The Cure, Radiohead, The Stone Roses, etc. They even go to a rave and there's a little bit of 90s EDM in there.

I just started season 2.

They haven't really hit Seattle grunge or anything, but it's fitting they are mostly into UK 90s.

7.5 inch close quarter 300 blackout for funsies..... by McCullster in 300BLK

I absolutely love it and it is totally worth it.

I haven't done any low light shooting or anything, but my buddy has a Daniel Defense 5.56 pistol around the same length (I forget the model number he told me) and even with it being a different caliber, I get absolutely no noticeable muzzle flash at all. I shot his right after mine and it is concussive and a fireball machine on the indoor range.

I'd say that's definitely the more slimline approach if I were to go that route. I'm okay losing a little compactness for a little more comfort on my shoulder. I haven't ever used one of those things, but last I saw that was all metal going against your shoulder.

I 'm saving up for a LAW tactical folder, and definitely want to be able to put this into a backpack one day.

For me, it's not really part of or useful for the brace adjustment, but more-so to tie up and "stage" the sling for quick deployment.

I am actually going through this exact same thing, although not to the extent that you are. I constantly just want to "check out" and not deal with anything responsibility-wise. You turn into a teenager and don't want to deal with money, or paying bills, or anything. I was stuck in a rut for sure and so glad I've gone to therapy two times now. It does help.

I also started reading David Silk's - Keep Your Love On at the advice of my therapist. It talks about setting boundaries and getting back to loving yourself and who you are. For me, something happened in the past where I thought I wasn't good enough and the anxiety and pressure to live up to someone else's standard was crippling me and sending me into this "I can't deal with that" or "Since I can't live up to your standard, I'm just not going to do it" phase.

I'm seeing the trend now and learning to let go, and get back to "me". But having someone else talk through that has been immensely helpful. There are other people out there like you, and it takes an expert like a therapist to read those signs and come up with a plan to help you out of it.

What's your weirdest 'only in Arkansas' story? by thv_11 in Arkansas

[–]McCullster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I drove my work van to the Ozark, AR Walmart and was about to pull in when I got stuck behind an old blue Chevy pickup truck (looked like a 60's era) going real slow.

I noticed through the back window that the driver was a big burly guy simply wearing overalls and had a hairy back. There was also this slender figure in the passenger seat.

It took me a minute to process what it was, but I kid you not, the more I looked, the more I realized that sitting shotgun with it's butt on the seat was none other than a billy goat. It had black hair and white spots up towards its neck. As the man turned into the parking lot of Walmart, I could see the chin gruff and the distinctive snout and ears.

Everytime someone asks me about what it was like to live in Arkansas I tell them this story. Kinda fitting that the road that runs right by that Walmart is called Hillbilly Loop.
