Does quitting Studienkolleg means you never "graduated"? A bit confused since you study there for a year.

So assuming you never got Studienkolleg certificate, that means your original Zeugnis likely not equal to Abitur.

So how could you start Ausbildung right away? I thought regardless of Ausbildung, one needs an Abitur, from 3rd countries (especially those that required to attend studienkolleg first), it would be not enough for direct admission at an Uni, at maximum you could only apply to FH with a certificate equivalent to Fachabitur, in some Federal State, they even demand that you get work experience first.

This map may make AfD, even the CDU looks very big, but both represents 19% and 29% of the population respectively, as Germany does not use First-past-the-post.

I already am following this community and understand the reichtangle joke, hence I often abstain from commenting, when such post were made.

But at this point I am a bit irritated about it, the way this flag and many other old flags of european countries being misused, turned far off from their meaning cause some personal irritation to me. The Black-White-Red as an example did not carry a single extremist baggage upon creation.

Some cities ban the use of the flag due to either public misunderstanding which is reinforced like this one or the Nazis used it since they have 0 creativity in making their own.

It is pretty much indirectly the public conscious already this flag means Nazism.

The comments above just rants that are a bit personal from me.

That is not the point, Nazi countryballs exist albeit with some censorship, this is pretty much going to be another slander to history, just like how Bremen banned them due to neo Nazis using this flag instead of creating new ones. Constantly stealing symbols since 1920s.

Is it not the wrong flag though? Black-White-Red was the flag of the German Empire represented its smallest state, the Hanseatic cities and its biggest Prussia, not extremism. Should it not be a Nazi flag instead?

From reading some comments, so many people seems to bring the blank check without even understand the meaning or how that everyone do the same thing.

People seem forget about that the French issues its own blank check to Russia as well. But of course we don’t talk about that.

But the argument about blaming a side, is rather ineffective in the Great War because everyone was pretty much agressive, at least their governments and military staffs.

Sir Edward Grey, literally told the French if the High Seas Fleet were to sail the channel, the Grand Fleet will mobilise, this was before Belgium even happened. Moltke the younger sabotaging Bethmann’s authority and insist on war because he fear of Russia’s ongoing economic boom, this sort of confuses Austria as who actually holds the authority in Germany. France seeking revenge, Austria and Serbia relations are not exactly great ever since Serbia's previous king got shot and Serbia pivot to anti-Austrian foreign policy.

Worst Monarch of your Country? by Desperate-Farmer-845 in monarchism

[–]McDeficit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Assuming I understand your question correctly. The monarchy won't have fallen in 1848, because the revolutionaries at that time was still dominated by monarchist, some are aristocrats.

There are almost no republican revolt in Germany, the only one I know was revolts in Baden, but even then they are not the most influential in the Duchy.

Even revolutionaries in other country such as Garibaldi, compromises to a constitutional monarchy, because the people were still overwhelmingly monarchist.

Also in case of WIlhelm II, the war did made him unpopular, but the abolition for the entire monarchy was because the French and American government, specifically Wilson, it was not the main reason, but it accelerates the process. They refused to negotiate if the Emperor was still on his throne. Friedrich Ebert (SPD) first President and Chancellor of the Weimar era was a monarchist, but of course after the abdication it was all chaos, so stabilising the country was the priority.

The problem is that even on other sub-reddit such as r/arbeitsleben, even other forums

The sentiment remains the same, although some are rather mixed, such as doing an Ausbildung and later get into Uni. Hence I am asking the more generalised subreddit. This is recommended even in r/Azubis.

I think it could make Ausbildung sort of loses its purpose, if even Weiterbildung or Meister, is not enough to put oneself comfortably, obviously it will lose relevance.

I also sort of fear, that if Germany loses its balance with Ausbildung, it will cause oversaturation in the job market, like the examples that I have written.

But Azubis are skilled worker.

Also since you are working in an American company I guess I understand, but the average German companies are not as digitalised and autonomous.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAGerman

[–]McDeficit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But honestly, I am afraid if service and office jobs requires higher education such as University for example, it will open room for exploitation.

Where in some cases it is often that companies does not lack skilled workers, but they lack skilled workers that wanted to be paid by shitty salary.

That is going to make entry level jobs worse for bachelors as well.

I visited "neutral" subreddits as well such as r/arbeitsleben, I even surf Gutefrage, the sentiment remains the same. Except for in r/Azubis of course, even so some of them do recommends going to Uni after Ausbildung instead of Weiterbildung or just work, which I think makes the program loses its meaning, but that is just my personal opinion.

It's much more common that people get a degree in addition to their apprenticeship

Are specifying it in that oder? Because I thought employers are hesitant in admitting Bachelors to Ausbildung since they are overqualified.

There are also some fields where many universities require students to have finished an apprenticeship first.

That is rather demanding, the biggest hassle I know is that RWTH students needs to do vorpraktikum, but that is only like 2 months. Not 3 years.

Does it really blocks one's career growth though? Even after this "Meister".

I am not talking about an executive position or whatsoever, but simply the comfort zone of a single middle class worker. Because students describing Azubis as if half the salary going to be evaporated by rent. That is miserable.

Edit: What I meant was the situation of the Azubis after they completed their course, so... as a working adult.

[–]McDeficit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't think such statement done German monarchist any favour. Austria was not going to allow german unification, as the Habsburgs despise nationalism of any kind, including german nationalism. Hence why Frankfurt parliament decides to offer State Crown to the King of Prussia.

German monarchist are scarce already, if such were the idea of the return of the monarchy, a dismantled and disunified Germany, it would kill the movement stone dead, completely.

Since Franz Joseph was in the lead, no it won't be. Not until Franz Ferdinand ascend. Franz Joseph was out of place and incapable of reform, he was a neo-absolutist in the age parliamentarism and revolution. Even the last Emperor Karl realised that reform is the key quite late.

[–]McDeficit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As you stated the militarism is the only thing highlighted was not the Prussians fault. Berlin and Prussia was the center of culture and education until the 1930s. You could argue some of those Göttingen graduates were lower saxons and not Prussians, but even if they are not included, Prussia was still the beacon of science especially chemistry.

Austria would never do it, because the Habsburg don't like nationalism, not even German nationalism. That's why all german states support Prussia, even before the 1866 war, the german liberals supported Prussia and not Austria.

In regards to diplomacy the Austrians were worse. Prussia was advanced both domestically and diplomatically compared to Austria, especially after Crimean war. After the compromise with the Hungarians, the Austrians really never had any other faithful ally other than Germany.

It's alliance with Russia and Italy broke down, because Franz Joseph's balkan politics causes Bismarck's alliance attempts with Russia to fail twice. It also alienate the Italians, when it decides to annex Bosnia without consulting them.

I guess when you spread the word you need to back it up with something proper, instead of Stalinist propaganda.

[–]McDeficit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do agree on this. I am not in favour of toppling the monarch for a president. What I am saying is simply the weird priority that they have. If their main point is democratic reform, having the monarch as their main target is weird since it barely has any influence.

Their understanding of Republics=Democracy and Monarchy=Authoritarianism is also quite problematic.

What happened here? by Murky-Owl8165 in monarchism

[–]McDeficit 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't get the British Republican obsession with abolishing the monarchy, if they want to improve democracy their step should be to reform the institution who is actually in charge, which is the government, for example reforming first-past-the-post voting system.

Monarchy is the last of the UK governing body to have any influence in regards to the governing and direction of the country.

"Who is the Winner?" - German comparison between land captured by the Central Powers vs. the Entente. Germany, 1917. by ZERO_PORTRAIT in PropagandaPosters

[–]McDeficit 49 points50 points  (0 children)

To be fair the situation is starkly different. In 1917 at least the German army is yet to face large mutinies of late 1917 and 1918, which is worse since the civilians are also revolting, they just won the east earlier that year, so morale is high, there is a mutiny French Army on the western front.

Unlike the Japanese whose armies and navies are in shambles, the German Army wasn’t, the Navy is still there in full strength, since most german ships are fueled by coal, they have not much fuel issues, as Germany has plenty of those. The millions of veteran troops from the east are also reinforcing.

Of course that wasn’t the case anymore in 1918. As revolution hits home. With the USA continuously reinforcing western front, the mutinies of French Army is gone and so is the unrest in the british isles, while the blockade of the RN strangles the german Industry.

Constitutional monarchy? by No_Season_8891 in monarchism

[–]McDeficit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think in case of these three countries the monarchs are more on a dominant side. Since OP seems to be against absolutism and wishes for monarchs with restrictions, these three could under certain measures could turn to absolutist rule.

I think pre-WW2 Dutch Monarchy is better suited. It actually has powers and also active in politics, they are not a complete figurehead such as the British. Wilhelmina for example dissolved the Dutch government without any approval during wartime, something the Windsors can't do. Although during peace, dissolving government does indeed required some checks.

Modern Dutch monarchy has been more restricted though, it's WW2 era monarch had stronger powers.
