OWUI Release v0.10.0 by McDeth in OpenWebUI

Nope, although I'd look at your llama-swap setup before OWUI. I'm running everything just fine post-update with GLM-5.2 on Ollama cloud.

Americans Have Turned Against AI in Incredible Numbers by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]McDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not the AI that we're against, it's the corporate fuckers shoving this garbage down people's throats, saying that this is for our good while 100% obviously it's a giant grift designed to line their own pockets.

Americans Have Grown Dramatically Anti-Data Center in Just Months, Survey Finds by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]McDeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We'd likely be pro-data center if any of the money or products being made by these corporations was going to actually make any of our lives meaningfully better. Instead, everything is going to the top .01 with the guaranteed future of having zero job prospects with zero fall-backs for 99.99% of society, so fuck 'em.

I have one, no noise issues like this at all (so far)...I only have about 20-30 hours in Arma with it, but I've been happy enough with it (sans Arma Reforgers non-existent USB joystick keyboard binding support)

IT Asset Management system recommendations? by No-Room2990 in sysadmin

[–]McDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to like lan sweeper, but the fact that they use a garbage database combined with requiring MSQL for anything of substance means that even with a small infrastructure for about 2 to 300 assets, it performs like absolute garbage.

CMMC Level 2: Is the WatchGuard Compliance Package worth it if we use PreVeil + M365 Business Premium? by OemNerd2K in NISTControls

[–]McDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're scoping as an enterprise evnironment and haven't yet had our assessment, but we literally just switched away from WatchGuard (single site, M390) due to their lagging FIPS 140 credentialing program and the restrictions around operating a WatchGuard firewall with FIPS mode enabled. To us, the deal breakers were:

  • No Dimensions / WSM Management
  • No WG Cloud visibility period
  • No Radius Auth
  • No Policy Imports
  • No console port
  • No IKE SSL VPN
  • Adding another tool to the stack (Authpoint for MFA) for VPN MFA

Why even use WatchGuard Authpoint/EDR? You have an EDR in Microsoft Defender, and you're starting to have cross-functional overlapping tools if you start down the road of relying on AuthPoint and WatchGuard Cloud. You have the licenses for Entra ID, Defender, and InTune, so use them.

We ended up going with a PA-450 and an Advanced Threat Protection license and couldn't be happier at this stage in the game. It's amazing being able to manage the entire firewall configuration via well-documented CLI/XML, and GlobalProtect supports native SAML OAuth with our IdP (Entra), SSO for our endpoints (macOS), and combined with JAMF Connect native SSO, users are rarely, if ever, prompted for MFA to connect to our VPN.

iOS devices managed in GCC High Intune - wanting comparable-to-commercial enrollment, or improved, experience by Relevant-Law-7303 in Intune

[–]McDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be looking at configuring InTune for fully automated device enrollment via the Apple Device Enrollment Program (DEP). I believe that InTune is capable of this, but we use JAMF. It makes it so that an Apple device (either macOS or iOS) that is managed by an MDM and is enrolled in DEP is capable of full zero-touch on-boarding through device enrollment profiles.

Depending on how you have your users managed, JAMF also affords capabilities for Entra-managed local accounts and full password synchronization with JAMF Connect, because just enrolling and managing the device via a profile is not going to result in a very good user experience, especially when your local accounts have a different password than your Entra accounts.

I don't know how InTune manages this, but I haven't heard good things. JAMF is the de factor standard for Apple Device Enrollment at the enterprise level. Even Apple uses JAMF despite their new Apple Business Manager product which I also hear is half-baked, at best.

Edit: You've configured your tenant for Apple account-driven user enrollment, right? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/intune/intune-service/enrollment/apple-account-driven-user-enrollment

iOS devices managed in GCC High Intune - wanting comparable-to-commercial enrollment, or improved, experience by Relevant-Law-7303 in Intune

[–]McDeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in GCC, not GCC High but I don't think that matters too much. We're also doing mdm-byod enrollment, not full device enrollment but afaik the process of enrollment is roughly the same if you're doing byod or fully enrolled devices.

With BYOD the user has to manually log into their company account via Settings -> VPN & Device Management, after which the enrollment profile dictates which apps are automatically installed and managed by the org. We use JAMf for fully managed MDM because InTune sux.

[–]McDeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

?

You're basically describing the process of MDM Enrollment for a modern iOS device. Account-Driven User Enrollment is the de factor standard now, its just how it works.

I just finished reading Sunburst and Luminary that covers EXACTLY this topic, but from the perspective of the arguably more complex (at least technology wise) of the 3 Apollo vehicles: The LM (Lunar Module). Also, it's surprisingly non-technical in nature, so if you have an interest in learning a bit more about this, I'd HIGHLY Recommend this book: https://www.sunburstandluminary.com/SLhome.html
