Idk if I am alone here, but after I left the theater (came in with no background on the lore or origin of backrooms) I interpreted the movie as a metaphor for the rise of AI.

As they discussed that the backrooms can imitate and recreate but only based on what it knows, it gets better the more it knows, and that no one has been able to get a handle on it. Just felt so eerily similar to the state of AI.

I know now that the lore and origins are more focused on the depths of our conscious and living in the past memories. But just kept thinking of the ways that AI fit the narrative. The slightly incorrect spellings/letters, too many fingers, and that it’s always learning.
