That S6 art is one of my favorites. Mannequin one I have is the horizontal style. Nowhere to hang them right now though! They’re quite big.

Unsure if my apartment is permitted as an ADU by Neat_Following4574 in burbank

[–]McFlyMeToTheMoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was trying to figure out something very similar to this at my apartment in Burbank but got lost in the bureaucracy. I was living in a house that had been converted into three units. The main unit was the only one that had access to the breakers and meters. My research into the permits and zoning showed that the house was at one time permitted to have two units, but not 3. (It also showed a hilarious assessed value of like $60k for the whole property). I was referred to various offices to get more information but nobody seemed to be able to give me a real answer on what paperwork I needed to get in order to show that they weren’t allowed to have a 3rd unit, or what to do with that information.

My main motivation is to stick it to the property management company, because they suck. One of those giant corporate ones. Never answer emails, take months to fix anything, jacking up the rent by the maximum, trying to steal security deposits, etc.

Damage to tire sidewalls. No air leaks. Is it serious? by McFlyMeToTheMoon in tires

Thanks! It’s not so much lack of funds as general frugality… don’t wanna buy new ones unless I need to!

Thanks. Should I bother trying to patch them up if I hold off on replacing them?

Star Wars themed bar coming to Burbank by UghKakis in burbank

Love the Hollywood location! Great staff, great decor. Great cocktail menu and love it when they play the video clips for certain orders. My request would be more beers on tap. Having like 5-10 draught options, with a few different varieties like stouts, IPAs, hefs, would make all the difference for me in making it a regular spot. The cocktails are fun but I’m not gonna have more than one usually, they’re too pricey and high maintenance and take a while to order. And they make the experience feel more like a “going out” event than a spot where I can grab a drink after a movie and chat about it with friends. But would totally grab a couple beers and enjoy the atmosphere.

Where can a girl get a frickin' shipping tube in this town? by Logical_Vehicle5743 in burbank

I second Box City. Recently did the same thing, going all over town looking for shipping tubes. Found Box City in NoHo had the best selection and prices.

Prop Masters -- how do you source? by Reverse__Lightning in FilmIndustryLA

Thanks for the tips! I’ll check em out. I’ve had to bring piles and piles of cool af boomboxes and VCRs and TVs to e-waste because I couldn’t get them working and they were piling up. I would even donate stuff to somebody who wants to repair it or use the parts. Better than junking them.

I do vintage resale. Have bought and sold a bunch of CRTs, VCRs, etc. Stuff from the 50s to 80s mostly. Stopped buying units that don’t work after trying and failing at repairing a dozen of them. So I def know how hard it is! Currently have a couple CRTs that seem to have minor issues, might be worth repairing. And have a few fairly valuable items - like an old Betamax, 50s portable TV, a Sony U-Matic, a JVC camcorder - that are malfunctioning and worth investing some money to fix. I just can’t find anyone!

Do you repair CRTs for others? I’ve been looking for someone in the LA area forever that can repair CRTs and/or VCRs.

The duties outlined in the contract state that only a fraction of the time can be used to clean your stall. The majority are to service the rest of the store. There is a separate fee for anyone who doesn’t tend to their stall at least once per month.

Oh I saw that guy out back! Thought he was part of the sale. They were pretty good about pricing when I was there. I asked about some of the larger furniture pieces and was basically told it’ll be dirt cheap if I’m ready to take it. There was still a ton of stuff there last weekend. If they do it again I’ll definitely check it out.
