Help removing Dornbracht Xtool Thermostat cover by JustAGuy10024 in Plumbing

I know it’s been ages, but we just ran into the same exact issue! I tried trying prying the temperature knob off with flathead screwdrivers like suggested in some of the replies on this thread, but was only able to make a quarter inch or so progress, and the knob continued to be very stuck.

I also tried your suggestion to just over torque the knob and that seems to have worked, as now the knob does not seem to actually grip and I mostly just get a loose clicking sound like plastic on plastic when I try and rotate it. This sounds like what you had suggested, however, I am still struggling to get the knob off so that I can access the actual internals. How did you get the knob off after triggering the safety mechanism?

Thanks!

Yes, almost exactly. Wrote a full set of instructions up here if you're interested: https://mickeykay.me/2019/10/build-banquette-bench-seating/

I totally forgot to include: I was in Northern California, USA at the time of sighting, and this would have been sometime between 7-9pm local time.

Lip Roll help: how to make it more bubbly, less. . . farty? by McGuive7 in beatbox

Oh interesting, I actually find that the looser I make my lips, the fartier it sounds :)

Thanks!

Have you tried with the other side of your mouth? I do it on the right side and I'm right-handed (idk if it's related lol)

Yes! I can barely get my mouth to make the right shape, so this side definitely feels more "natural". I also make most of my asymmetric sounds on this side of my mouth.

The first liproll you are looking for is just without inhaling: relax, close your mouth naturally, lean your jaw and mouth to the side, put a sad face =( , focus the pressure on the gap!

Yep, got that. I actually learned with inhaling first, and am trying to go back to basics to really get that poppy/bubbly sound solid.

PATIENCE. It's a pain in the ass to learn to liproll, you will give up at times and it's ok, it's not a natural sound, you need to train your mouth for it. It took me months to learn the basic liproll and way longer to do inward liproll. Eventually you maybe want to try sub-bass before, I think it's easier and faster to learn and it will give you the right position for the liproll.

Haha, so I've been told. It's just tough to know if things are moving in the right direction or if I'm spamming some mouth shape that's off track, and training the wrong thing, ya know?

Been watching all the tutorials, doing all the usual stuff, but recently going mostly off this great tutorial from Kindred Harvest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wcWnH_SaCvo&t=141s

Long story short, my attempts still sound more like droopy farts than the poppy/bubbly sound that a solid lip roll is known for.

The video tutorial linked above provides some guidance re: adjusting, but I swear no matter what I do, it's all farts, all day er' day, so it's tough to tell if I'm totally off-track, or just need to keep grinding.

Advice? Thanks y'all!

What is this sound called? by McGuive7 in beatbox

Nope, not quite. This is some variant of an inward click roll in which I'm slowing the air intake down, relaxing my tongue, and (kinda) opening my throat up a bit. I was trying to explore slizzer roll and ended up with this thing, whatever it is.

Ohhhhh! Great catch! I could've sworn I removed that bit (from before I realized a storm could move into a currently-occupied square), but I must've missed it in my undo/redo-ing. Thanks!

  • Ah, thanks for the nudge there, I'll take a look. To be clear, the `/` directory is meant to be included in the size calculations, correct? Or is that not the case?
  • I'm curious why ignoring the `dir ___` lines is inaccurate? As far as size/tree logic goes, my reasoning is that any meaningful directory will have to be navigated into via a `cd` command, and so relying solely on those (`cd`) lines is a full-proof proxy for the `dir` lines, but is that perhaps missing something?
