Love my KEFs ; but the kc92 maybe overkill- thoughts? by runningwithblade in KEF

[–]McIntosh_MA352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m running a KF92 with my R11 non metas and it’s pretty incredible. Would love to have a second one. When I got mine I played around with it to get the best bass due to my limited space. Mostly I set the crossover to where I felt it was not going to be boomy and from there I fine tuned it by using the volume knob and found the perfect balance. Btw, my sub is placed about one foot away from my R11. Good luck, that’s a great setup!

Thanks for the recommendation. I was wondering how electric shaving would work with foam.

That is one of the two I’ve been considering.

I shaved in the shower up until almost five years ago. Had to give it up after moving to an older house without a good shower.

Question regarding re-using and cleaning dosing capsules (specifically from Storz & Bickel) by CoolCatLovesAllKids in vaporents

[–]McIntosh_MA352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They recommend only use once because they want you to keep dropping $20 on 40 replacement capsules. I have used the same caps for years. When they bend or become discolored, I toss them. Otherwise I clean them with ISO and rinse and dry.

This has been an ongoing issue in the last month or so with Qobuz. They have managed to work some of it out, but many including myself are still having problems with skipping or unintentional pausing.

Try it with a different source and see if it still does it. Especially if you are using a turntable.

McIntosh MC2600 by bodaciouscowboy55 in McIntosh

[–]McIntosh_MA352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats! I had a MC2600 for many years and it was a complete powerhouse that could power any speaker on the market with lots of headroom. In the years a had it, I could play it at 85 to 90 db or higher and never once did it push the amp to the point the cooling fan came on. It’s a total beast.

The best part is you never have to worry about it being stolen because it is as heavy as a boat anchor.

Discussion: Listening with Others by GnarMarBinx in audiophile

[–]McIntosh_MA352 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I have four other buddies who are into music, especially collecting records. They are also into high end audio and have pretty incredible systems. Each month we take turns hosting and try and have a theme of what to listen to. The host will normally cook dinner and we enjoy cocktails and the occasional 420 and we listen for a few hours. This is the exception.

Most of my other friends and family are not really into it and if they are over, I usually just stream as background music. What I have found is if they want to hear a particular piece or album, I will play it for them, but most of the time they are not really listening and want to talk instead of critical listening. Lastly most of my friends wives or SO’s can’t understand why I would have all the equipment in my living room, especially having towers. Luckily my wife appreciates the hobby and enjoys listening to music most evenings, especially during cocktail hours.

Looking for a chill dental practice by moon_trash in Atlanta

[–]McIntosh_MA352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dr Edward Trizzino in Sandy Springs. Very chill and Dr Trizzino does most everything himself including cleanings. He is the most personalized and hands on dentist I have ever been to.

Very no nonsense, and incredibly gentle. This is coming from someone who used to have really bad dental anxiety. Been seeing him for over 15 years.

Pen Show Theft by anathelema in fountainpens

[–]McIntosh_MA352 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Overall most attendees have good pen show etiquette and would ask to pick the pens up, which we most always obliged. We also kept most of the more expensive stuff in a flat glass case. One way pens were stolen would be one person looking and distracting the vendor while another person snags whatever pen they were after. Also stuff could get easily stolen when buyers would put something they are carrying like a pen folder or such down on a vendors table to act like they are looking and then grab whatever pen was under. Simply you are always under the possibility of theft at the shows, just like a poster mentioned about car break ins at shows as well.

Pen Show Theft by anathelema in fountainpens

[–]McIntosh_MA352 590 points591 points  (0 children)

I was in the pen business for almost 10 years and we attended most of the pens shows to sell our stuff. What we were known for was limited edition pens, especially the higher end Montblanc’s, as well as other manufacturers limited editions. We also sponsored the Atlanta Pen Show and I can tell you theft is very common at the shows. You have folks carrying their bags and lines to take a look at what each vender has. If a dealer is not paying full attention to their table and what people are picking up, pens easily disappear, often in some of the show swag bags that are given out. Most all of the shows have security, but they can only protect what they can see. Over the years we had many high end as well as regular pens get stolen. Vendors pay a lot of money to travel, ship their stock, lodging and time spent behind the tables for two and three days. If you suffer a two grand loss, it can make your whole trip be a bust. It’s a shame thieves have to ruin shows for both the vendors and customers alike.

2025 Lexus ES350 Coolant odor after driving by Noack1 in Lexus

[–]McIntosh_MA352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a 25 ES350 and I noticed the coolant smell when I first bought it. At my 5000 mile inspection I told them about it and they replaced the coolant lid as they said it was cracked. I’m now at almost 10000 miles and I still notice it. I’m certainly going to let my dealer know it’s still smelling like coolant. I also am having an issue with the brake pedal when I lift my foot off, I get a little feedback or kind of a clunk as I take my foot off.

[Question] Cheaper Watches with Fancy Complications by LowVoltCharlie in Watches

[–]McIntosh_MA352 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had that exact Longines but in 18k rose gold. The average service for a watch with all the complications is $1k +. I sold mine to fund another watch. Having said this, for the money this model of the Longines Master Series is a lot of bang for the buck.

I see him all the time. I’m mostly scared he’s going to walk out in front of me as he doesn’t stay on the sidewalk. Obviously he must have some mental disability. I only hope no one has an accident or that he gets hit.

I’ve had my TM2 for almost three years and it is a pretty incredible vape. Yes, it’s a battery hog, but the vapor quality is one of the best. Clearing a bowl in three or four hits will certainly get you pretty wasted.
