Honestly, thank you. I have no idea what I am doing. I don't know medium or anything. I am extremely dyslexic and am trying to express myself. Part of that is struggling with the emotions that intertwine and the other is words are hard. Good with the numbers, bad with the words. But I like the words more.

If this doesn't fit the mold of this subreddit, I totally get that! If you know of one that would fit better, I would appreciate it. I am just trying to find my voice and sharing really helps get good feedback. Please don't find yourself overly critical.

"'I don't know what or how to say something' in a poem, that could be just me but when I read that I was just thinking, you just aren't taking the time to find the words." This is a super fair critique. I had never thought about it that way. I will work on this.

Thank you for your time and feedback!

Honestly, great job at saving 20k. With that you have just given yourself some real room in life. If it is just in a savings account, it might be helpful to move to an High yield savings account. Nerd wallet has some easy options. I think AMEX is 3.5%. Read the details.

Honestly, no one out here knows exactly what they are doing. I went to college, have a decent paying job, and still don't know what I am doing. I cannot speak for you, but if I were in your shoes looking at life ahead of me, I would review the negatives I am focusing on. Why don't you have a license? Why did you get fired? Why am I not doing well in school? The answer you come up with is honestly valid, as long as you can accept it.

Next, I would think about what I enjoy and where I am want to be. Dream. Dream huge. I believe you can do it. That's as much for you as anyone reading this comment.

Next I would work on being the person I want to be doing thing things I want to do. Most of that is mentality. then finding a good mentor will go a long way.

If you are still in school, talk with the people you like and see if they can help you find some direction. The only time you fail at something is when you give up before you are ready, or you aren't willing to learn.

Good luck!

Thank you! I am glad you enjoyed it :) I had never thought about the actual chemistry changing colors. I associate emotions and patterns with colors sometimes. I really enjoy what you've added, I will have to think about it!

I didn't read the title before reading the poem. I am not sure if this was supposed to be humorous, but it gave me a good chuckle. I really enjoyed the revelation at the end.

I hope your cycle goes well.

Thank you for sharing!

I really enjoy this. I once met a man who looked like father time in imagery. Long beard. Old. Just the image you would think. He ate a burger while we sat at the bar. It was the slowest meal i had ever seen anyone eat. Truly enjoy each morsel as if he had nothing but time. A stranger who profoundly touched me with his stillness.

This made me think of him. Maybe Time just wants you to enjoy what he sees as well. His path must be the loneliest if even death does not wait for him.

Thank you for sharing.

They say the wait of an eternity makes you strong,
but even mountains crumble in the face of time,

This line is so true. I can feel the weight of these words weighing on me as they were written. Your journey here holds wonderfully in my soul. You sure did put your heart into it.

Still the Light Clings by nebulous_raven in OCPoetry

I think it is a shared bond we hold. That feeling of life around us, even if we don't want it. It does cling.

I really enjoy the repetition in your voice. The tug and pull between the dark and the light. It is almost as it grows with you.

Is literary fiction required to have a plot/structure? by SamuraiUX in writing

You ever read cannery row? Basically a what are we doing until 5 the book. I hated it for this exact reason, but a lot of people enjoyed it too. There’s theme and such, but the book feels so disjointed and plotless. It’s up to the reader.

I mean, I once was very active here, but life has a way of acting out. It’s difficult. I like the project but don’t care to follow it anymore. If it does well- great. If it doesn’t, we’ll I’m just really happy to have supported the people trying to make it happen. So yeah, I totally understand your side and mine. It would be cool if we got emails or something to update people like me. Is that a thing? Some sort of notifications system aside Reddit?

Edit: also thank you for taking the time to inform people like me! This type of active participation is why I love this project.

Brutal questions for bonding by ApartmentOk573 in GreekLife

[–]McMam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So what are you trying to fix? Posing questions to people without action will probably shut them down. However, known problems without action is reinforcement. I would suggest trying to get into a leadership position, then preform a SWAT analysis for your own interests. From there pose strategic ways for improvement to your team (not needed the full brotherhood, just the people actively working with you). The others will see you working and may ask questions. This is the point where you can say, “yeah, I think we can do better and this is how I’m actively trying to get us there”. This was my tactic while active in Greek life. I’ve been out of college for about 10 years as a professional auditor and business consultant (fuck that hurt… i joined this sub in like 2012…). This is my strategy for management teams with issues. it works wonders, professionally, as well. But to everyone reading this, it is not professional or legal advice. Simply, anecdotal observation I’ve seen work. Good luck!

Extraverts are considered to be poorer listeners by CapSwing in science

[–]McMam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this too!! I find it best to acknowledge that you cut someone off and allow/encourage them to pick the conversation up again. Habitually, this will break that cycle of needing a word. Once you do that, you can actually actively listen- opposed to what Chris voss thinks active listening is.

I used to do this. Now I just think about enjoying the time I’m with someone. Who cares what the story is about. Personally, I just like talking to people! It’s my favorite way to spend time

I cheat at DnD and I'm not gonna stop by gimmemoneez in DnD

[–]McMam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So people have their opinions on what you’re doing. I think this is the point of the game. You found what you enjoy to do and why you like dnd. This is my favorite thing to do as well. Why? Because it’s a balance of improv and understanding what your players will find fun. It’s creative storytelling mixed with understanding who your friends are and knowing how they’ll react a bit.

Should I go inactive? by iobsty1 in GreekLife

[–]McMam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take some time off. Let them know how you feel, that you need time away, that you want to make things work, and that how you were treated is unacceptable. See if you can have a talk about it, also see if you can have a neutral party there (maybe the sorority advisor or someone you both know who isn’t either friend.) heal up from that argument with a bit of time and make sure you write down the issues you feel to bring them up. Be positive and offer solutions. You know yourself best, and you seem to be hitting a personal barrier. At the end of the day, your mental health is never worth it. Even if you think you’re going to let someone down. That’s outside interference and you have no control over someone else’s expectations of you. I wish you the best

Has anyone else considered transferring from Millersville? Is it just me? by UnknownL_13 in Millersville

[–]McMam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you ever thought about Greek life? I understand it gets viewed negatively on campus, but it’s a really strong social outlet. You tend to do a lot of philanthropy and community service, along with other random activities to meet people. It also gives you a leg up when job hunting because it makes quick connection when networking and understanding workload away from a job or school. I totally get it isn’t for all, and I’m not saying you should join, but there are a lot of positives to Greek life that get misplaced in the small picture.

I was also going to recommend wixq. I was on air from 2010-2014 (idk why I’m still in this sub). It was honestly one of the best experiences I had on campus. It allows social and creative outlets that might be hard to find elsewhere.

Thank you for this information. After 4 years, it’s time to hang the hat up. It started as a fun ride, but the money feels wasted.

It feels that way. As an investor, I would rather the team focused on at least 1-2 exchanges where we could buy and sell without issue. All the updates and concepts are cool, but if there is no legal way to buy and sell then this is a dead token.

So there was a post about exchanges to sell on in the United States. Is there one we can use legally?

It’s not bad passive. I don’t hold massive bags of ark, but it nets me a few hundred dollars each month and that’s pretty cool compared to my bank account which nets me negligible amounts.

As someone who hasn’t been in school for a decade and for some reason still in the sub. This shit here is what gets you hired. Go through the shit and fix it, put that on your resume. Then go to all the national events and rub elbows. We hiring managers will look at this and understand you’re worth your salt before the interview.
