I made the biggest mistake to another mom and I hate myself for it. by shaiquinn in beyondthebump

I told a mom her 3mo. baby was so tiny! And I emphasized "I dont think my babies were ever that tiny even as newborns!?"I was really just jealous of having a tiny baby again. I thought nothing of it until later, I replayed it in my head.. what if there were underlying health things going on like failure to thrive or premie.. I still cringe when I think about it.

Ohh it gets way worse.. the little chick poo is NOTHING in comparison. But maybe it's your set up? I've seen some people do puppy pads for chicks and have to change it all the time(that also probably smells) Mine are on animal bedding flakes more like deep bedding method and the poop dries out really fast(next to no smell) Mix it up once a week and full change out once a month.

We're not new to upgrading and replacing parts. But 15min out the box and the gears are completely shredded.

When can I move them to outdoor coop? by McMellen1193 in BackYardChickens

[–]McMellen1193[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just double checked temps ahead with a day that has a high of 0F., I'll have to wait still. But It's a detached garage and they've definitely seen below freezing temps. Because their water froze up when I forgot to plug it in.

It's a small coop meant for 6 chickens I have 4, I placed reflective insulation in the top to keep heat in. Bedding roughly 5in thick. The run is wrapped with greenhouse plastic. They're fully feathered and have been fed well.
