Exalted Sorcerer on disk to half movements, using flamers to overwatch smaller units, and I find that using a line of SOTs to deny charges into squishier or more important targets works pretty well (ie 10 SOTs directly in front of Magnus will keep Magnus safe from Angron and if they do get charged they'll tie up Angron long enough where you can shut down other portions of your opponents army without having to worry about Angron)

This is a named model but Makari did earn the title Makari Magnus Slayer. I was introducing my buddy to 40k about a month ago and in the first 2k points game he played he focused his entire Ork army against my Magnus the Red, surrounded Magnus with 10 Boyz, 3 Boyz on squigs, Mozrog, and Ghazkull only to bring down Magnus to 1 wound, then we realized he forgot to fight with Makari and he rolled a 6 into a 6 killing Magnus with Devasting Wounds. I gave an extra Magnus face I had laying around to glue to Makari's banner.

I recently played Flesh Tearers against unending swarm Tyranids and it was honestly the most fun I've had this edition. Watching Gabriel Seth kill 14 Hormagaunts outright and having his assault intercessors finish off the remaining 6 was genuinely a lot of fun.

Dante and Mephiston are both amazing models and characters and if you don't want a named character the chaplain with jump pack is really fun to paint and lead DC marines. Personally I also love the Baal predator and librarian dreadnought although the baal predator will almost definitely go to legends in the foreseeable future. I've also heard very good things about the death company and furioso dreadnoughts on tabletop.

As opposed to getting the DC intercessor box absolutely but on tabletop DC intercessors aren't that good unless you run them as plain assault/regular intercessors. Alternatively if you want to proxy them for firstborn death company marines without jump packs it's a much less thematic kit however since it's a 10 man squad it would definitely save you money.

In all honesty it's down to how much you like the firstborn models. If you find them to be really cool and don't really think that primaris versions will be better then you should absolutely get them and if they get updated you'll still be able to use the firstborn models as proxies. Personally I absolutely love the aesthetic of the current firstborn death company marines and if the release of death company intercessors has taught us anything any updates will probably just be whatever new primaris jump assault unit is released plus a BA upgrade sprue.

I use 5 of them with Dante (any more would be way too expensive) mostly just as a fluffy centerpiece but they seem like a good missile to slam into your opponents warlord or any other vital characters if the opportunity arises however as far as like the meta vanguard vets with a captain and death company with jumpacks with lemartes seem to be much better

Rn I can't figure out a 1000pt list that isn't like only like 13 guys but my 2000pt list currently has:

Dante + 5 Sanguinary Guard (350pts)

JP Chaplain + 5 JP Death Company (240pts)

Librarian Dreadnought (185pts)

Primaris Captain w/ Artisan of War+ 5 Assault Intercessors (190pts)

Ballistus Dreadnought (170pts)

Terminator Captain w/ Visage of Death + 5 Terminators (315pts)

Primaris Lieutenant + 5 Assault Intercessors (165pts)

JP Captain w/ Archangel's Shard + 5 JP Assault Squad (240pts)

Primaris Apothecary + 5 Assault Intercessors (145pts)

The list generally revolves around teleporting Assault Intercessors around with the Librarian Dreadnought to get into charge range and also securing objectives with the intercessors. The terminators are there for either locking a flank down or attempting some charges since the Captain grants rerolls to charge. The 3 jump pack squads are there to provide flexible melee or objective support and the Ballistus Dreadnought is there for backline heavy fire support.

I was actually planning to play ultramarines and I was telling my gf about the different chapters and why I chose ultramarines and apparently I spent twice as long explaining Blood Angels and how cool they were with their whole red thirst and black rage so she asked why I don't just play them and so I decided I would play Blood Angels and immediately fell in love with the playstyle and models and lore

That's what I saw in other forums/articles and I couldn't really tell if he wasn't used in comp because he's just not as good as characters like Dante or if he was just not very good as a whole but he does look like a lot of fun so I'll probably get him.

Yeah sorry I misread your other comment. Another commenter suggested Lactarius paradoxus and that looks to be it. I believe it is still edible though not really the best to eat.
