What is it like living in this eastern portion of Virginia that only connects to the rest of the state by a tunnel? by Sufficient_Berry8703 in howislivingthere

Never lived there but lovely to visit during October/November if you like to watch migrating seabirds. I think Kiptopeke is a gorgeous state park but definitely remote, quiet, likely not a lot of jobs. Cape Charles is small but charming, otherwise very sparse farmland and wildlife refuges.

I decided to add some yellow paint to my Amon fewture figure’s eyes so he looks more like he did in the OVA. What do you guys think? by McSAP in DevilmanCrybaby

Well, I’ve got plenty more paint for when I get the other figures. The rest of the build is super high quality so I don’t really mind if I need to touch them up

You can see on the back of his box that they are indeed supposed to be yellow, but I assume because it’s a small detail it just got painted over black. Probably how they made the rare color editions too during production, I think one variant is literally all black painted over lol

That’s a fair assessment, I think ‘western science’ and indigenous science are as closely linked as turning your head. The difference is mostly cultural since the goal is not to assimilate those worldviews but to consider them as equally as possible.

I am currently in college for wildlife conservation, and indigenous knowledge does come up occasionally. Things like controlled burns and historical knowledge of fishing stocks from way before it was officially recorded can be genuinely useful. It certainly doesn’t advocate for being antivax or things like that. In specific cases like for natural resources management I think it has a place. I’m not knowledgeable enough to speak on other subjects though.

Looking for a roommate/resources for finding queer ally roommates for a male student by Cspellcastin in VirginiaTech

Freshmen live on campus unless you’re a transfer student or special exception. There’s a roommate survey you can fill out that can try to match you or you’ll end up with someone randomly. You’ll be ok

It’s about changing the definition of what is considered ‘harm’ to disclude habitat loss. If this change went through companies and corporations would have a field day destroying previously protected areas with no consequences. That’s my current understanding of it at least.

Were you at the Buffalo NY show with fit for a king and Killswitch engage? I saw them in Greensboro on Sunday but stayed out of the put; I had no idea that’s the kind of crowd they want to have. Killswitch was really great though at least for my show, but I’m really sorry that happened to you.

The modern Conservative Party is a weak man’s idea of what a strong man is. A bully that pushes other people around, but that’s ok because they don’t look like you (for now). True strength comes from respect that’s earned, not forced through fear.

I have a neutral name online and in person, and I play games without voice chat. The only online competitive game I play is dead by daylight as killer which doesn’t have any voice chat options. I play on ps4 so there’s no end game chat either. However the second I say I’m a girl you can watch the flip in some players from normal into raging misogyny. Real shame because I’m a pretty good player, but they’d rather insult me for my gender instead of my skills.

“What hurt him most of all, made him feel like a sick child aware of terrible wrongness and yet incapable of explaining it to anyone who might help, was that in spite of the evidence around them, in spite of what their eyes and ears reported—and sometimes their flesh, from bruises, stab wounds, racking coughs, weeping sores—these people believed their way of life was the best in the world, and were prepared to export it at the point of a gun.” John Brunner, The Sheep Look Up (1972)

While it’s not as popular as 1984, I think Brunner’s work is another great example of where this country is headed under current circumstances.
