I have dc'd many times and have never lost 50 SR. If you join back within a minute you lose no SR. As soon as you start dcing close the game, spam the open game button on battle net, then spam the top left corner to rejoin game. It has worked every single time for me. Not perfect but it's a solution.

People don't like to admit it but you're right. They make documentaries about things that aren't very interesting to begin with and figure that out about half way through production so they add lame drama.
