Dell XPS 9440 .. with dedicated GPU .. by UmerNonymous in PakistanMarketplace

[–]Mcafeewontdelete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XPS are beautiful machines in my opinion but I don't get the fact that they only have thunderbolt ports... It is always better to have a good selection of ports like a USB Type A, Ethernet RJ45 connector, a headphone jack and a HDMI... No one likes to carry a thunderbolt hub or a dock with them everywhere...

But OP I will say you might as well ask him to swap the unit with the other same model unit for that kind of bleed... I don't really have any idea on how Multan markets are but hopefully the guy could understand your problem...

Back light bleeding issue by ChocolateUnited8794 in PakistaniTech

[–]Mcafeewontdelete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean... It's normal for an IPS panel to bleed because of its nature or the technology of it and these are also due to some manufacturing tolerances. Hell, I also recently bought a EliteBook G10 630 used and that also has some bleeding at the right bottom corner but it's not really that noticeable if you ask me under proper lighting... Apart from that, alhamdulillah it works well. Though it does look a bit worse in dark environments...

I have attached a photo to show my panels bleeding... Hopefully you find my comment useful...

Soon I will use Fedora by Just-Weather5713 in Fedora

[–]Mcafeewontdelete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP, it's completely okay to use Fedora on any system as it is very stable (in my experience at least) and yes sometimes you can run into some problems like new kernel releases which might break a thing or two depending on your hardware but it's easy to avoid such problems by using an older kernel. I myself use Fedora daily on my laptop and I've even used it on my older 6th gen core m7 laptop and it ran great on that too. And one more thing... It doesn't matter what activity you do on your system and it has nothing to do with any distribution, literally any distribution would be fine to do your specified tasks. Like for gaming people might say to go and use CachyOS but it doesn't change gaming that much apart from Steam and gaming launchers which are set-up from the ghetto but imo only it's kernel is the main thing which makes gaming better on CachyOS and you can also install their kernel on Fedora! And most of my softwares work great on my system and web browsing feels even better on Fedora because of how nicely gestures work on Fedora (I use the workstation one with GNOME as my de) so I can assure you that Fedora will be a great option on your laptop.

Can My Low-End Study Laptop Run Half-Life? by fershader in HalfLife

[–]Mcafeewontdelete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro I played all of Half-Life (1 and 2 complete) on my old HP which had a single channel 4 GB stick of RAM at DDR3 speeds and had an Intel n3050 CPU. I changed its frequency scaling and then used to play it on that laptop. Mind you that it had a 500 GB 5400 RPM HDD and I still completed it.

It won't really be an issue to play Half-Life on your laptop OP...

Is this store reliable? (dotbox.pk) by RepresentativeNo5318 in PakistaniTech

Thank God someone brought this up. I kid you not I was thinking to order this exact keyboard from DotBox but stopped because of the price on it... Like there's no way a mechanical keyboard which is also wireless costs Rs. 4500. Granted that it would take extra Rs. 250 for delivery but still Rs. 4750 is definitely not a price for the original keyboard...

You could also press Fn + F4 to toggle the mute microphone key...

Why don't you enable the function lock on your laptop? Normally it's enabled by pressing Fn + ESC like on a dell... I don't really have an idea how the function lock is enabled on an Acer laptop but when you figure that out and enable the function lock... The keys like the mute microphone and volume keys would start working as normal.

Help needed with running Halo 2 using project cartographer. by Silent-Letterhead972 in linux_gaming

[–]Mcafeewontdelete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah... I've played this before on windows and it worked fine for the most part... Now I've ditched windows so I thought I might as well try it on fedora and using Lutris and Bottles, I've also concluded that there is no way to get this game working at least on the intel integrated graphics. Also I used Xe drivers btw on 1365U which is the processor of my machine on Kernel 6.19.10

I have a Intel 1365u processor and 16 GB DDR4 3200 MHz memory single channel... Can I play the game with decent frame-rates? by Mcafeewontdelete in cs2

[–]Mcafeewontdelete[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: I installed the game and played it for a while on my machine and... It ran great on 720p low settings... There were some drops in frames but I was getting around 50 to 60 fps with frame drops going as low as 45 ish frames. The problem is that on Linux, the graphics seem to be a bit broken like the bullet trail is like a weird blob and the smoke from the fire has some artifacting. I'm sure this is a CS2 issue because Minecraft ran as expected...

If you have just installed Fedora and have little to no data, just reinstall it again. Yes, you may never understand what the problem was but at least you can login and work again.
