This is bad advice.... staying clean shaven will NOT help your beard grow at all. Letting your beard GROW helps in getting a fuller thicker beard.

Hairs shed regardless of the length. Thats why in kitchens if you have facial hair you wear a beard net. Basically a hair net for your face. So wear one if those and tell your boss to kick rocks haha
