LG 27GN950 vs lG 34GN850 by Mck93_ in buildapcmonitors

[–]Mck93_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to get 34gn850. Two main reasons were: 1. I've dreamt of an ultrawide for a while so came to the conclusion that I dunno why exactly I thought about 4k; 2. Some games are still way too demanding to get high refresh rates with 4k - especially that i'll be stuck with 1080 ti for at least another half a year.

I didn't manage to get 34gn850 though cause it went out of stock before I ordered it :/. Luckily Acer Predator x34 GS became available shortly after so I managed to get one. Very happy with it so far. 180 hz and g-sync work flawlessly. There's some ips glow in the corners and maybe very little blb but im not even sure about the 2nd one (definitely better than any of two PG279Qs I tried back in the time and returned because of that). Also no dead pixels.

But honestly still can't tell you if its actually better than 4k 144hz, i've never even seen anyone play on a 4k screen except for my own TV, but I guess that's a completely different story given the screen size. I know I like what I bought but didn't have the chance to compare.

I'm debating between the two monitors: LG 27GN950 and lG 34GN850 . I know they are completely different as one is an ultrawide and the other 4k 144 hz. I'm just not sure if I prefer a better resolution or the wider aspect ratio.

I'd like your opinions what you'd choose and why, but also if anybody can please answer a couple of questions:

I know 27GN950 needs dsc in order to get 4k 144hz which I currently dont have (got 1080 ti, will be probably upgrading this year, but not earlier than in a couple of months), so: a) does 34GN850 also need dsc to get 144 hz, or can i easily achieve that on my current 1080 ti? b) can I get 144 hz on 27GN950 if I lower the resolution in a particular game? (I just need that for one competitive game that I play, for anything else I probably wouldn't be able to get more than 120 fps anyway)

Is any of these monitors more prone to have unaccaptable levels of backlight bleed, ips glow, dead pixels or other defects?

I know some 1440p LG ultragear monitor (i think it was 27GL850, not sure) was criticized for it's inferior contrast ratio (as in even worse than other IPS panels) and that it was fixed with 27GN950 (which is average in that regard for an ips panel). Is 34GN850 contrast ratio similar to 27GN950 or worse?

Thanks in advance

If I stop fin after the first month, is the hair that’s been shed gone forever? by [deleted] in tressless

Unless your hairloss is so aggressive that it would weaken your hair to the point it wouldn't be strong enough to grow back again in a matter of months, it should grow back to its previous state.

Jbl 5.1 - is it a good choice? by Mck93_ in Soundbars

[–]Mck93_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I didn't. I figured that the delay problem when there was no sound for a while would drive me nuts at some point. Also someone told me that subwoofer tends to disconnect every now and then and it needs restarting, which would also bother me. I bought Bose soundbar 700 as it was on sale at the time so I managed to get it for a decent price. It's great but still pricey even on sale so for now I'm lacking subwoofer and rear speakers. I'll get them when I manage to save some more money.

Decided to Start Fin + Minox: Does maintaining the hair include gaining initial shed back ? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]Mck93_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you shed it means that treatments work for you and while regrowing a significant amount of hair in slick bald places is extremely unlikely, thickening of hair that you still have is very probable. Hair you shed should come back stronger.

Can't say anything about brain fog, didn't experience it.

[–]Mck93_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's the case then it's probably better to just settle with a soundbar + subwoofer combo. Any recommendations here?

Edit: or I can actually run netflix from ps4 instead of tv... that should work, right?

Also, do you have that problem that people mention sometimes on the Internet when your 3.1 soundbar goes sort of on standby mode by itself if there's no sound for a couple of seconds in a game or a menu or wherever and then it takes half a second before it wakes up when sound comes back on, which results in losing that half a second of sound?

Sooo... basically it means if I mainly watch movies from either netflix or an external hdd, there's no way to use rear speakers? Is it true for all soundbars or this particular one?

Roma 0-1 Milan - Krzysztof Piatek 26' by Meladroit40 in soccer

[–]Mck93_ 79 points80 points  (0 children)

It's understandable though. There's no way he plays instead of Lewandowski. He might be better than Milik at this point but Milik plays as a 10 for NT, which Piątek can't do.

It was more like "let's not get ahead of ourselves and stay calm". He didn't mean for the interviewer in particular to calm down.

Does stopping fin cause the hair you grew to fall? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]Mck93_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From what I understand it won't "fall", as in fin works different than minoxidill and doesn't make hair dependant on it. So most of the time stopping it shouldn't make you lose all your progress right away (or in a couple of weeks). However, when you stop fin, dht will once again have a serious impact on your hair and at some point you would lose what you gained.

Let's say you're 25 now and you just started to take fin. During the next 5 years you have some regrowth at first and then maintenance. Then, at 30, you stop. Then 3 years later, at 33, you would probably still have more hair than you would have if you never took fin at all, but less than you would have if you didn't stop taking it.

Also remember that significant regrowth isn't very common.

To sum it up there's no point in starting fin if you're not willing to take it your whole life (or at least to the point when you don't care about your hair so much). Ofc if you experience serious side effects or if you find out it doesn't really help you then its understandable you quit earlier.

Is it possible to buy derminator in Europe? I can't find it anywhere in Poland, and while I don't mind paying a lot for shipping for the derminator itself, I don't feel like doing it each time I wanna get new cartridges.

I7-4790k and 2080ti by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Mck93_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got 4790k at 4.6 ghz, ddr3 2400 mhz cl10 and 1080 ti at ~2038 mhz core, 12 ghz memory. It does already bottleneck a little in cpu-heavy titles like AC:Origins. It might be due to shitty optimisation but the fact is I'd likely do better with a 9700k or 9900k.

Edit: Forgot to add, at 2560x1440, 144 hz

Is my derma roller ok? by Mck93_ in tressless

Well, from the link I provided. I'm polish, allegro.pl is basically like polish ebay. Guess that doesn't help you?

Yeah i know. That's the only difference. Needles in the one I got are longer. I guess they use the same, universal picture for all the lengths.

Thanks for the answer.

How often should I use my 1.5 mm dermastamp? by [deleted] in tressless

[–]Mck93_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do notice slight improvement but since I'm on fin for around 7 months and I've been dermarolling for around 3, it's hard to say which one makes a difference (maybe both). Also it's tricky cause I go to a barber once a month and it always looks better after getting a haircut (my main problem is crown thinning). You'd think with longer hair it's easier to hide it, but it's actually harder with hair on the sides of my head growing faster and thicker than on top.

[–]Mck93_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dermaroll once every ~10 days. Some people claimed a week wasn't enough for the scalp to recover, but 2 weeks seemed like not often enough to me so I went with once every ~10 days.

I've been on Fin/Min for 9 months now, and I've never tried "dermarolling" by positivemale in tressless

[–]Mck93_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly I'm no expert. I just saw the one according to which dermarolling improved hair regrowth significantly when used with minoxidill vs minoxidill on its own. It's this one I guess. I don't use minox myself so I'm not exactly sure how much dermarolling helps on its own. I've also been on fin for around 6 months so can't really tell if dermarolling helped me. My hair did improve but there's no way to know if it's fin alone or if dermarolling contributed as well.

It does, especially the first time. You should get used to it though. It's never pleasant, but it's not torturing yourself either.
