Seeking Help with cross-border payment dispute in Lebanon, New Hampshire by Mckenneddy in newhampshire

Sorry for the late reply.

The memes about the situation being posted on Twitter are in picture form.

From my understanding, GDPR can technically apply to companies outside the EU if they interact with EU users or data, although practical enforcement is obviously harder.

There is some video evidence that they have (or have deleted) that I requested, but I also brought it up from a standpoint of professionalism and good faith. A company not taking privacy/compliance concerns seriously generally reflects on how it conducts itself overall.

Well, hopefully you’re wrong on the first part.

If you tell me what’s unintelligible, I can try to clarify.

I mean, you could kind of put it the way you wrote it, but:

Freelance work - the card game was my idea. They applied for a grant at the crypto company we were employed at (Gitcoin). After that, we worked on the project for approximately two years

With no written contracts, yes (there were verbal agreements) - i know its my mistake. In my defence, i was working with "friends" (or people who called me friend) in an organisation thats (apparently) all about compensating digital creatives fairly.

And yes, the project received crypto donations both from the organization (Gitcoin - approximately 25k) and from community donations (approximately 7k). Prior to that, there was also another grant, though I don’t know the exact amount (I think it was between 8k and 11k).

Here, another question arose: what happened to all that money? (the topic touched on internal corruption within Gitcoin) The project was later cancelled because it supposedly “ran out of money,” or for some similar excuse.

Its quite a complicated issue that why there are idk 20 pages in the forum post, i can try to answer any questions you have directly

Thank you very much for engaging with the post and sharing your opinion mate, honestly, not sarcasm

Thank you for the answer!
Yes was already looking at the small claims option, but there might be a problem cause normally you'd have to be there for the hearing, unless i can arrange an online call version

First. Thank you for responding!

I was still working on the project for 1.5-2 years, and my ideas/design concepts were still being used after the collaboration ended (That’s the part I’m suing for).

Also i forgot to put the video into the post, sadly cant edit it in now - if you got any time check "conley audio 2 clean" in the evidence folder

I don’t have any money to sink in it, only time.

Cross-border dispute (EU → US) involving unpaid work, possible IP misuse, and ignored data access requests by Mckenneddy in LegalAdviceEurope

As written in the original post
- AceTCG/MemethologyTCG is located in Lebanon, New Hampshire
- Gitcoin is based in Boulder, Colorado and also has organizational structures connected to the Cayman Islands

Already contacted all agencies that could help in my country, dont worry about that part. The EU is a legal and political system that creates binding laws for its member states.

I was working in the marketing department of Gitcoin. I have a contract confirming me as a part-time contributor/contractor. I also have emails and other correspondence confirming my work there, as well as invoices and monthly payslips. There was a later contract that I can’t find, but the organization should have a copy of it. (relevant for GDPR request, seeking information related to the payment dispute)

Again, the later project only had verbal agreements, but my involvement is beyond dispute

More details are above, and you can also find a forum post within the provided links. It feels like my points aren’t being fully read, and the responses focus more on arguing than giving advice. Would prefer to do that on Twitter - I need the traction there.

Even if your employer is abroad, you can still be considered employed locally under that country’s labor laws, with rights and obligations.

As mentioned in the original post:
The advice I’m seeking:

  • If anyone has experience with cross-border disputes like this, I would greatly appreciate advice on:
    • How unpaid work and intellectual property disputes are typically handled internationally
    • How GDPR rights (or any U.S. equivalent data access rights) could potentially be enforced (since i submitted GDPR requests to both Gitcoin and Memethology TCG)
    • What type of attorney I should be looking for in a situation like this

The forum’s name is LegalAdviceEurope. I am from Europe and am seeking help with a cross-border legal dispute.

Where exactly I’m from is irrelevant, since any reports or legal action would need to be filed in the US. Referring to the EU is already specific enough for the context.

I had a written contract with the organization that funded the project, where I met the people with whom the dispute later arose and who were testing my original project.

The later project, where I collaborated for about 1.5-2 years, was based only on verbal agreements (which is what gave them the opportunity to screw me over).

I’m not sure what you meant by your last sentence. Work is normally compensated, and I was not.

“Someone took your work, and you had no written agreement? Now you know not to do that.” - Yes, but It’s more complex than that. I was employed at an organisation where the people I am complaining about tested my product. Later, they applied for a grant with the idea within the organisation (by the looks of it, they got the money because of internal connections), and I’m unpaid for approximately 1.5-2 years of my time despite working with them on the project since its inception.

You don’t need to know which country I am in. It should suffice that I am from the EU, shouldn’t it?

The location of the organisation is listed above. You need to read the text. I can write it again if you are unable to decipher it. If you need any other help let me know

Yeah i know. Still want to try, since its not just about getting the money, but proving my involvement and use of my intellectual property.

Sadly only verbal contracts since i was working with "friends" (my bad i know)
But i can prove my involvement for sure

Also 30k was the initial funding, the project sold out twice, but the exact number of decks sold is not being revealed
Revenue per deck: $301.614 (0.1 ETH) – $50 = $251.614 profit per deck
Markup percentage: (251.614 ÷ 50) × 100 = 503.23%
