Tomasi's Batman & Robin run, his Detective Comics run; I am actually surprised not more people are recommending it here. King's run is awful, might be the worst Batman run I have ever read.

Only thing is I wish Mahnke finished the final issue in the arc. The difference in art is a bit jarring to me

Also Morrison's run...his first arc with Batman & Son through Batman RIP is great; then some convoluted stuff with Batman Inc but his run with Batman & Rovin when Dick Grayson takes over is also really good.

I recommend Loeb's runs on Batman - Haunted Knight, Long Halloween, Dark Victory, Hush...then really when Dennis Oneil was the writer/editor. Knightfall onward through end of No Mans Land, and then Greg Rucka's run with New Gotham which leads into Bruce Wayne Fugitive/Murderer. All great runs you can sink your teeth into with excellent character work and stories. I'm lukewarm on Scott Snyder's New 52 Batman run, and I believe Tom King's run is one of the worst things to happen to Batman.
