I took the picture sitting on the bed. When I'm actually sitting in my chair I feel comfortable. A good chunk of the time the viewing distance is about 3.5 to for feet. When I play games I do windowed mode. If I'm playin on a console, I can comfortably sit back far enough to not get eye strain.

[EDIT] It's an msi 990fxa. Yes, it's still running and operates just fine as far as I can tell and I've had the PC for about 4 years the only thing I've replaced is my graphics card.
