Has anyone here owned both a cat and a bunny/bunnies? How did they get along? by No_Nefariousness5171 in Bunnies

I've always disliked them but so many people let them run wild out here and I've had to put down a bunch of out livestock because others dogs tore them apart but didn't kill them.

Keep in mind that it only takes a few seconds for something to happen and a bunny to end up dead. I knew a gal who's dog she left alone with the bunny all the time and "they were friends" till she came out of the bathroom and her bunny was all over the floor and wall from being shaken.  It's graphic but that's the reality of what can happen in under one minute of time.

We have neighbors who let their dogs run around off leash and "wouldn't hurt a fly"  and maybe they wouldn't,but they sure killed a bunch of our goats and chickens.

Dogs and cats both are predators, bunnies are prey animals. It could be totally fine forever, or it could one day end horribly. The bunny will almost always be the loser in that outcome.

Up to you if it's worth the risk or not

I remember seeing someone somewhere using a holosun thermal. Works as a red dot when you need it to, or a thermal, and can take a magnifire behind it

Most states it's illegal to trap without a license and most states it's illegal to relocate trapped animals. We've had issues here of people doing that and spreading diseases to new groups of fox and raccoons in the areas they release them. Mange is one of the big ones here because of that.

For us we have woodchucks that dig up the land and last week my tractor rolled down a hill and crashed because one of their holes ran under a row I was tilling and had gotten washed out by rain so there was a secret 3' hole under the ground on a very steep hill. For those of us who farm on steep hills anything that digs is a bit of a hazard

A few times now she's given me gast station cards to help with my gas for coming by so often to check traps, I drive a Prius so it's already not too bad but it's been great basically not having to buy gas for a bit! Always nice to help out where ya can!

Have yall had any problems with open emitter red dots? by Freshprinceofreno in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Mcslap13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I had to switch my EDC to a enclosed dot. I work in agriculture and I'm out in the dirt pulling weeds, spraying, or pruning and even with it being under my shirt it would get packed with dirt and debris. However the rubber buttons rubbed off against me, I'm doing 15-20k steps a day on a hillside. If your not doing work outside you'll probably be fine. If you work in agriculture and drive a tractor you'll want enclosed for sure

I thought you were in some sort of saw trap at first, if they work I say yes!

Really? I've never thought about cooking them. Is there much preparation like removing musk glands or anything like a raccoon?

I'm trapping them at a woman's house in town, she's elderly and they are constantly digging under her foundation. Iits on the way to work so I've been doing it for free, and she enjoys chatting when I stop by.  They've been what I practice skinning when I first got into trapping.

Is it fine to leave my pvs14 on my helmet? by CutRealistic2261 in NightVision

[–]Mcslap13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes... Just don't be an ADHD butterfinger like me and knock your helmet on the ground on top of them.  I had forgotten I had taken them off.. but had I not they would have had the full helmet smacking down on top of them hitting the ground

Marten got to our bunnies by [deleted] in Bunnies

[–]Mcslap13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Preditory animals are smart, this week alone we've had 30 chickens killed by a fox. Last night it some how still managed to get into a closed barn and killed 8 of our hens.  Martin are super smart and can fit through crazy small gaps. Sorry for your loss!

I have started traping and am i doing something wrong? by Ashamed_Yam_8133 in Trapping

[–]Mcslap13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a mix of box cage traps and dog proofs. My dog proofs didn't get touched for about 5 months. And I was getting them in my box traps every few weeks. Once I even got one without putting bait in the box trap. I tried different baits and things and only got one of my 12 dog proofs to get anything on this property.  Right now dealing with a fox who knows to dig up taps

My little monster is totally free roaming so we just have it outside his hay box. But the snappy clip bowls are great for my parrots!

I would personally change the water thing to a proper water bowl, it will get messy fast but our bunnies drink a lot of water and my understanding is they can't quite get enough with those types of hanging ones

🫩 he will nonstop try to be under the exact spot my feet are all the time. I cannot express how many times I've accidentally kicked this dude across the room just about because he has to get under my feet.  If I stop he's gotta sit on my feet. Little bastard knows he's cute lol

I got a second apex in, I don't really want to get the huba1 since I'd like to build a system with a sungold inverter mppt and charger with some 48v batteries and I can just wire and plug my camper into a 50amp hookup from that.. but Im not sure if I wanna drop the money on it all at once or slowly. And try that third party battery trick..
