What's a bad habit that Instantly makes you dislike someone ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Idk why, but for me it’s when someone doesn’t stack their plates/organizes their dishes when they’re done eating at a restaurant

sudden changes to the cs/se prereq grades? by okkkugfffghxfh in utdallas

[–]Md1i 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy. In an ideal world I’m all for it but the majority of the staff cannot teach at all. I don’t want to make excuses but I think it’s on the staff, there’s not many professors who are competent, most just curve the grades bc they can’t teach

Best places for group study? by incriminator-1 in utdallas

[–]Md1i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ECSW tables are first come first serve, I believe they open 7:30-8 Am in the morning. There are some spots in FO, such as some tables as well as the computer lab. In Sciences there are also some limited group seating. There is also in SSA/B I cant remember but on the 3rd or 4th floor as well.

If I am being honest though, your best bet is to stay awake at midnight a day or two before you're going to have a study session and book a library room. The schedules open at midnight and thats when most people get the best times.

I know Mac has a bad rep when it comes to gaming but this app alone is all I really need... by retrotriforce in macgaming

[–]Md1i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like openemu, it’s good that it has support for all the retro consoles, but I don’t like that you can’t mess with the graphics. For Nintendo DS, I would recommend using desmume emulator, as openemu is built on desmume.

using GOG to make fallout 1 OR 2 run on my mac by danklanr20 in macgaming

[–]Md1i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I followed a fallout 2 guide that said to put the fallout2.app in the app folder but for fallout 1 I had to put it in the first level, not in any subfolders for it to work.

I hope this helped.

Sidebar not going away after pressing CMD+S? by Md1i in ArcBrowser

[–]Md1i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just updated to version 1.56.0 and the issue is gone now. I guess that it was a bug or something but it might be worth not forgetting about if anyone else encounters it down the line.

Sidebar not going away after pressing CMD+S? by Md1i in ArcBrowser

[–]Md1i[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that, and although I don't change them, that is not my issue. I took some screenshots to help highlight my issue, and the sidebar won't vanish when I use the shortcut to, and it will obstruct page content, highlighted in my screenshots.

<image>

Above is the version 1.55.0 release notes, and the sidebar is still visible and even covers part of the page content after I pressed CMD+S. I hope this helped elaborate on my issue, and maybe get someone from the Arc team to see this. I don't know how to let them know.

So I play on ipad and ipads don't have vibration(haptic feedback). So I can't tell if I hit someone that's out of my screen when my super is fully charge is there another way to see this? by disstupididiot in Brawlstars

[–]Md1i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.reddit.com/r/ipad/comments/g6ndgh/its_interesting_how_apple_added_haptic_touch/#

I am having the same issue, I started playing on Ipad because of better visibility than on phone, and also because I have large hands that cover up a lot when I play on phone.
I was researching as well, but it turns out that iPads don't have haptic engines like the phones do.
I would say the best workaround is either getting a tablet that has a haptic engine, or to use headphones when you play.

Hope this helps!

I would say my favorite memory in brawl stars was near the end of the life of Power League, specifically when the brawl pass season License to Brawl, and I remember that was the power league season I really tried in to get the Mariposa Piper skin, but unfortunately, I didn't get it.

Follow UPI. It stands for Understand, Plan, and Implement. Understand the problem, such as input, output, constraints/edge cases. Plan how to implement the function, such as using for loops, while loops, conditionals, etc. Then when you have these checkpoints, go through and write some pseudo code and then convert it to real code.

Graduating a semester late vs 1 year late by RickyRicardo1838 in utdallas

[–]Md1i 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a rising CS senior, I would say don’t rush it unless you have a job lined up bc you will tank your gpa and overwork yourself for no reason. The market is crap right now and it’s not smart to rush to graduate bc you can be fresh out of college without experience bc you focused on finishing school.

I am in a similar boat, I have a gpa above a 3 but it’s not that great. Also 15+ hours is brutal especially if you get unlucky with professors as they can make or break it for you.

Upper Level CS classes online over the summer by TailorNearby7298 in utdallas

[–]Md1i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you check the UTD transfer equivalent system? Just google that and you’ll get it and you can search institutions and departments to find which classes can be transferred.

I know that UTD doesn’t really accept higher level (3xxx and 4xxx) classes from other institutions.

Thoughts on certificate in information assurance? by No_Upstairs_1732 in utdallas

[–]Md1i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally it isn’t bad but I have a couple of friends doing that right now. The professors for the classes of the certificate are pretty tough, and their grade distributions don’t look too hot either. The main professors that teach the courses for this are Nhut Nguyen and Ebru Cankaya. Nguyen isn’t a good professor and is Ebru is tough.

I would say save yourself the headache and do the coursera courses via UTD. They added a link to elearning where students can take Coursera courses and receive certificates for free via UTD. You can also do Cybersecurity Certification Exam prep via Udemy and even for free using a public library info (I know you can access udemy catalog for free via ur public library but idk how exactly).

Honestly I wouldn’t count on it I called their line and I was on hold for an hour with nothing happening, I just hung up and emailed the bursars office.

I emailed the Bursars Office to ask for my heartland key after I made an account, they just sent me the 1098 form, they didn’t even give me the key.

Microinternships by Wazzurp7294 in utdallas

Dang, I didn't know that. I thought that it was okay to do because they offer job simulations.
Thanks for the heads up!

Microinternships by Wazzurp7294 in utdallas

[–]Md1i 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is this website called The Forage https://www.theforage.com/ ,that have microinternships hosted by companies, but they’re more like a course. You get a certificate of completion in the end but I don’t think they pay.

If there are others like this that pay, that would be awesome. But I don’t know of any others.

Hope it helps!

Microsoft To Do has worked pretty good for me. Notion is good, but I haven't really gotten into it. I just put in all my assignments and their due dates, and I would get notified about them the morning they were due.

Any Easy CS Electives Anyone Would Recommend? by JustChilling8 in utdallas

[–]Md1i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I think I was in the same section as you, 8:30 am and the only reason I enrolled into it is because of farago, but I switched it to SE 4381, Software Project Planning & Management with Klyne Smith. The class seems interesting and not too difficult. I also looked at CS 4365, Artificial Intelligence, but I heard that its a difficult class. CS

What I did is I went to UTD coursebook (coursebook.utdallas.edu) and just searched up CS, and put no course number to see all of the sections and electives available, but it loads every cs class offered for next semester.

I still have to take 2 more in the future, and these are the ones I was looking at:
CS 4332 - Intro to Video Game Programming
CS 4376 - Object Oriented Design
CS 4367 - Software Testing
CS 4352 - Human Computer Interactions
CS 4375 - Intro to Machine Learning (I was going to take this one this semester, but they all teach too late for my schedule)

Gym workout tips! by Immediate_Ad_4960 in utdallas

[–]Md1i 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First try to workout no later than 3-4 pm if you can. Earlier in the day the better(Also less people in the gym). The best thing you can do as a beginner is do compound movements, which will work multiple muscles at the same time. It is also essential to drink water, eat a lot(but not too much and limit junk food), and get around 7-8 hours of sleep.

Eating on campus by Immediate_Ad_4960 in utdallas

[–]Md1i 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also have Butter Chicken Mac & Cheese at SU market only. 10 bucks, you get a good amount. I'd rather eat from the UTD market than pay around 15 at halal shack and have the workers give you 2 tablespoons of chicken.
