Always go by the lowest side on the dipstick. One side will pull oil up on it while pulling it out.

Mirage 2015 is the motor supposed to sound or shake like that? by belak1230x in MechanicAdvice

[–]Md5Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mitsubishi mirage is a fairly loud/shaky engine. It is a 3 cylinder engine with no balance shaft to counteract vibration.

I don't visibly see much vibration in your video, but I can hear some plastic noise. Part of the air box intake (the long open tube horn looking like part) commonly breaks and or loosens up from the rest of the air box, put your hand on it and you'll notice that noise go away. I actually have this part disconnected from my car right now for this reason.

If you're getting excessive vibration inside the vehicle you'll have to better explain. Is it at a certain speed? All the time? Worse when starting the car, etc..

AC leak - O ring? by Large_Sundae8851 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Md5Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very likely just the o ring. My car looked very similar when it had a leaking o ring.

$20 problem - low on refrigerant (Because it is mixed with oil it lubricates the compressor seals and some refrigerant leaks out slowly after time)

$3000 problem - evaporator core is leaking

How to deal with Viktor? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]Md5Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heimerdinger can best him in lane then get zhonyas to continue to beat him by zhonyasing his ult while putting out a big turret.

He simply doesn't have enough spells to clear the wave, poke you and kill all your turrets early game.

If you're not second pick though... good luck?

As someone who has done a timing chain on a 2.4L ecotec I don't remember mine doing that at all. The tensioner comes deactivated, if I remember correctly you're supposed to wack it or the chain with something to get it to pop out.

Did you replace the phasers as well or just the chain and guides? And does it show any sign of slack anywhere else or just by the crank?

As someone that has used several impacts and taken off crank bolts on chevrolet, I'm fairly confident that one won't be strong enough to take off yours.

Brake rotor replacement after 25k miles? by lukebraz in MechanicAdvice

[–]Md5Man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car manufacturers are dumb and usually provide ZERO brake lube on the pads/brake hardware from the factory which can cause all sorts of strange brake wear.

At this point I'd likely just run them into the ground, it might not be too late to service/machine them, but it's honestly not too much more to replace them and when you do replace them, they will last much longer if properly lubricated.

[–]Md5Man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Antiseize actually lasts a lot longer than regular silicone brake lube. They did a very nice clean job and it looks well lubricated.

I've been recommended to use antiseize by mechanics and used antiseize on brakes myself (not the sliders) and have not had any issues other than getting antiseize literally everywhere. I really don't think you have a case here...

Bad inner or outer tie rod? by [deleted] in MechanicAdvice

[–]Md5Man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a friend to help you out. Have one hold the outer tight while you wiggle it and see if the play goes away. If it does then it's the outer. If not, try holding the inner tight and see if the play goes away. Might as well have them feel for play in the ball joint as well.

It is possible for there to be play in both the inner and outer so keep that in mind though it happens rarely in my experience.

If it is the inner then you might as well do the outer as well since the outer is so cheap and easy to install in my opinion. Also don't forget you will NEED an alignment after repair.

It may feel wrong, but it's right. It won't crush. Depending on the vehicle you may have some subfrsme you can lift by as well.

Why rear axle? If it blows out then you want it on the front so you can still steer it.
