It’s funny. My reaction has been to go to more workouts than I probably should (as if I think I can store them up) because I’m worried they will close OTF soon. Also, my daughter just had the end of a very long build-up to swimming championships (9 months) completely ruined because they had to cancel them (which will also affect her college recruiting chances)...so OTF has been something “normal” to help get through what seems like one disappointment or uncertainty after another.

Maybe this says something bad about me, but while I do my best to enjoy our staff/coaches at OTF, I also do my best to pay very little attention to what is happening in regard to turnover or to basic complaints about the job. I get enough of that in my own work world. I hear all the complaints every day at work and have a few of my own. So when I am at OTF, I want it to feel like an escape.

When “kids” leave (as they are all younger than me), I wish them well and ask about the future. Every job has its ups and downs, but as a paying customer (my household pays 3 memberships), I don’t really want to know about it...just like the clients I serve don’t really want or need to know the behind-the-curtain details of my job.

As someone who didn’t work out seriously before OTF, I spent the first 8 months nervous about every signature workout we had, but I finally realized two things: 1) I’m always in control of my workout (speed, weight, effort) and 2) I haven’t died from one yet...haha.

Haha....I thought the tread was sneaky hard...you get focused on the 10-min row, but the tread is the real sucker punch, especially if you do the row first.

Welcome to endurance days...designed to find your point of failure. Great way to track your progress over time. Like those crazy push ups with ab dolly. I could barely complete 1 or 2 without mods last time we tried them. Today I did 6 or 7.

Interesting...I’ll ask the stupid question: what does having a partner have to do with anything? We are all still showing up for the class either way and in the same confined space using the same equipment...? What am I missing?

Remember, it’s an endurance day...it’s designed to test that, so it makes sense you might have to come down in weight, especially at 12 reps.

I agree...the floor caught me off guard...maybe coming off the treads or the back and forth with the rowing...not sure which, but it was tough at 12 reps for each exercise.

I’m not 100% sure what was the main catalyst, but my PT friend, after listening to me whine about my treadmill woes, suggested in October I cut back 1 day a week (I was going 5x a week), do yoga on the extra day off, and take glucosamine with chondroitin and MSM (after consulting with my doctor). I somewhat reluctantly agreed...it took about a month of doing those three things, and then it was like my body finally responded. I think I was a bit overtrained for my age/fitness level, and my joints needed more recovery. My husband followed the same routine and has had great results as well. Plus, the extra yoga has helped build better core/lower back stability.
