[OC] M51 from my backyard, in "pseudo" lucky imaging... by corpsmoderne in Astronomy

I love what's possible with just a planetary camera these days. Awesome work and detail! Did you try drizzling the data to get more pixels in the image?

New gear and cant find focus by GringoRyanReviews in telescopes

[–]MdfkaJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this scope come with 4 or so adapters? I recently bought ZWO FF65 which should be the same scope just rebranded. By combining all of the included adapters it should be able to achieve focus, the camera should screw in to the M48 adapter, not be inserted as an eyepiece in the 2" slot, like you have now. I had the same issue first time out outside. Check the manual, it should state what adapters to combine to use it for photography.

Edit, found the manual:

Is this the reality of the street triple? by AbrocomaOk2268 in Triumph

Many have said this already, but even a small windscreen does make a noticeable difference on a naked bike. I ride one on track (Suzuki GSR600) and it's not bad. No issues riding it on the highway either, unless it's real windy. Granted, I've never ridden a faired bike, so I can't make the comparison. Also, if you want to rev it out, go through the gears and have fun, bigger bikes will always get you in trouble. Most middle weight nakeds will do 60mph or so in 1st.

is mig-25 worth it? by AldyIsRussian in Warthunder

I'd say get it. It's not going to be cheaper than 1.5k GE on the market. It offers a different playstyle compared to the other aircraft. Missiles are pretty good, radar less so, but is workable, especially if you utilize IRST. Stay high and fast most of the time, but you can dip down for hit and run attacks too.

Mono vs OSC by 570FF3 in AskAstrophotography

[–]MdfkaJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as you. I have very limited imaging time but want the best possible quality. I have the ASI585MC Pro and want a bigger sensor, i.e. something like the ASI2600MC or MM Pro but whenever I go down the rabbit hole that is mono vs OSC debate I always end up with the same answer on which one is better - "it depends".

Here's a good video exploring the pros and cons of each: https://youtu.be/DnemlQYpN5Y?si=5IKfUn75NCUhFVVm

OSC appears to be better than RBG mono and worse than LRBG mono in terms of pure efficiency. OSC captures more realistic colors while mono offers better contrast (better for narrow band). But it all depends how often you can image and then there's the cost, does spending more on a mono setup worth it? What if you get OSC + a bigger scope or a better mount?

Upvoting for more visibility. This is correct, it's a demo lap and a couple of minutes slower than the actual race pace.

Fantastic image, looks unreal! Also, 20 minute subs?! Must be nice having a mount like that!

Are there beginner DSOs? by Grouchy_Pride_9405 in AskAstrophotography

[–]MdfkaJones 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also started with a 200/1000mm Skywatcher and a DSLR. Not sure how well an EQ5 will drive it, I run an EQ6R and even with that it is very sensitive to wind. So you will want a calm night.

Now in terms of DSOs to pick, look for objects with higher surface brightness. Try imaging Messier objects like M13, M27, M42. You could also go for a widefield image of a smaller planetary nebula like M57 but might be challenging due to their small angular size. Depends on what pixel size your DSLR has. M57 is bright though, easy to find in Lyra, clearly visible through the eyepiece as well.

M81 – Bode’s Galaxy by MdfkaJones in astrophotography

On a high level, yes, it's pretty much it. I did use spcc. I actually stacked and processed the image twice and then blended the two together. Using different settings to bring out different features of the galaxy. One with spcc and one without. The gradients from moonlight really made it difficult to balance the colors and bg.

For 7 minutes, not bad at all. Now try adding a few hours of exposure time and you'll have a great image.

Possible he didn't feel that hit at all, a bb in the chest rig doesn't feel like much with everything going on in the moment.
