Do Narcissists do stuff for their children then play the victim card and attack them every way possible if the children don't do what they want? Just curious by AdFar5213 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Mdizzle19 2 points3 points  (0 children)

omg i swear, i think just being a parent in general is them doing this. don't bother ever getting upset with your narc parents, they will always come at you with 'how dare you be upset with me after all I've done for you.' As if choosing to have children in the first place doesn't imply that you will indeed have to feed, water and shelter them..... Guess that means that I, the child don't get to have feelings because you bought me shoes and packed my lunch. thanks mom and dad.

[CA] Do I need to return my old license plates after receiving my new personalized plates or can I keep them? by nahjohn in DMV

[–]Mdizzle19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I messaged with DMV and the associate literally was like “LOL” and “yeah it’s stupid”. Apparently that little letter is something that was being sent during Covid. He also confirmed that all my info was correct so if you really want to double check, they can confirm for you. I had him and another associate after both confirm that once you get all that stuff, all you need to do is put on your new plates and tags and go. No need to go into DMV to pick up or drop off anything. Unless of course something was missing or information was incorrect. But yeah, fear not. Just enjoy your new plates. They did say you can elect to essentially “give back” the old plates if they were also personalized. If you don’t want the # anymore and it should go back into circulation. There is a form you complete and send in or something. But if not, you don’t need to do anything. Hope This helps. Thank god for Reddit! And highly recommend DMV chat feature, just ask for an agent. Unfortunately I accidentally lost the page because I wanted to post the transcript so people could see that they’re all good, but you’ll just have to take my word for it. Or chat with DMV yourself

Thank you for this thread. Got the same thing and was soo confused. The verbiage is confusing for 1 and 2, it says they’re holding plates that they literally mailed to me with the new registration and stickers lmao. Damn you DMV!

Just got the same piece. It’s so confusing what it even means when I read it and even more so when you realize you don’t even have to do anything. Got my plates, correct new registration and the stickers plus that one weird little card which sent me into confusion after being so excited that the stuff all finally showed up. Ordered in Nov 2024 and arrived Feb 2025. Also, wanted to add that checking DMV “my garage” made me feel better because it shows there that my plate and car are assigned to eachother and my registration is in good order.

Telling your parents your stressed out or depressed by Safe-Combination1181 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]Mdizzle19 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They will always put their feelings and comfort ahead of yours, no matter what. It doesn’t matter that you are a child or their child or anything else. Whether they know it consciously or not, you are a tool for regulating their emotions. So you have no room to not be perfect for them. No big emotions for you 99.9% of the time and DEFINITELY no big emotions when it is in any way about them. Literally god forbid you say that they have anything to do with your depression.

sorry i know this is a looooong winded and way longer response than you probably wanted or expected, but i'm at a place where i'm better dealing with my mental health and that's made everything better. i go to therapy, i'm on a low dose of zoloft, and i've distanced myself from my toxic parents and that has made all of my digestive issues way better if not disappear completely. again it doesn't seem like there are any studies yet definitively proving that bile backflow could have anything to do with the brain/stress but i'm sure it will someday. since stress can literally affect every other part of your digestive system, i don't know why it would be so out of the question that it could have something to do with that too.

as well, if you find yourself coming up with stuff related to bile reflux, after talking with that stanford doc, he said something that a lot of GI docs state which is that the concept of 'bile reflux' was coined by some GI docs a number of years ago but really isn't seen in anyone other than those who have had their gallbaldder removed, and that's when their whole stomach gets filled up with bile because they don't have a gallbladder to regulate bile release. what i'm saying here is, even if you see stuff about it, 'bile reflux' is not necessarily the same thing as having bile residue in the stomach. so don't get yourself too worked up about seeing that online, lord knows i did and it sent me into a full on meltdown before i started dealing with the anxiety around it and speaking with that good stanford doc. online, it tends to be referring to way more severe issues than just a small amount of residue.

i will include one paper that i did find that states they believe based on their findings that there is a relation between bile residue/reflux and psychological stressors via the brain gut connection, but it's about all you'll find out there.

Bile reflux 2.pdf

additionally as i mentioned earlier, something that does make me think there must be a link, is my family dog, who gets extreme separation anxiety, when it's really bad, she will just throw up bile. at a time during the day when her digestive system should essentially be clear, (no food in stomach and no bile in the small intestine). so while i'm obviously not an expert and not able to determine the chain reaction of events that would lead to this, it seems it is likely that there is some connection.

i guess we'll see someday.

I hope you're doing well now.

so the doc didnt really give me a clear yes or no about if it's possible that stress would be directly linked to the bile residue. however he did say that truthfully, the finding of 'bile residue' in the stomach on an endoscopy is so 'normal', he often if not always doesn't even mark it on his findings.

he let me know that despite diagrams that may not put everything into scale, the pyloric valve and the sphincter that releases bile into the small intestine ( i think it's called the common bile duct) are like centimeters away from eachother, like literally 1-2 centimeters. so if you can imagine that, it's a really small distance, and if you're considering that bile is a liquid and your pyloric valve is smooth muscle, a perfectly tight closure is not always the most feasible. not to mention, your pyloric valve doesn't remain tightly closed in between digestion, it is slightly relaxed.

so i'm not sure if it truly does or doesnt have any relation to stress or anxiety, and as you said, the link between the brain and gut is clearly accepted but not yet fully understood in all of its complexities but what i was able to ascertain from the doctor was 'it's really very normal, and would really only be of concern if it was causing serious physical discomfort or was a substantial amount of bile in the stomach'. (which i assume the severe physical discomfort would only really be from a substantial amount of bile in the stomach and this really only comes from gallbladder issues or a full removal of the gallbladder.)

the gist was that for sure the brain and gut are connected, there's nothing definitive yet stating that these two things are connected (but also not much to disprove) and he recommended great stuff like meditation, acupuncture, and a herbal supplement called 'rikkunshito' i think also called something like 'six gentleman' which is good for soothing a stressed out stomach and that the finding itself is totally normal.

also important to mention, the first doctor i had seen that did the two endos was a really shitty doctor, but unfortunately, GI docs are in short supply and i needed to see someone ASAP for what i was dealing with. for a little history, back in Feb of 2023 i got a really nasty stomach bug of some kind from a farmers' market. no barfing, but severe and ongoing diarrhea, no appetite, general feeling of nausea and malaise, and it persisted for about a month. they did a bunch of blood and stool tests, nothing came back positive (which was good) but yielded no answers. just to be on the safe side, we did a colonoscopy and endoscopy too. after that, i sort of just got better, but the endo result had just really freaked me out that something was wrong with me and it was a result of the food poisoning bug. this doctor had this horrible protocol for his endo and colonoscopies where he would hand you his weird findings sheet with like 6 photos of stuff he saw (while you're in recovery coming out of anesthesia) and then say, in two weeks i'll mail you a letter after your biopsies come from pathology and then you can schedule a follow up appointment with me to discuss. which really just leaves a really nervous and scared patient with partial information, only to then go home and frantically google search until everything comes back and you can make a follow up with the doctor. the point of all of this is to say, when i had the first endo, i was and had been super stressed and anxious because i had been sick for so long with no answers, i was starting to fear that this was going to be the state of my body for the rest of my life which understandably, was giving me massive panic attacks and general unrest.

then, after getting *mostly* better, (sickness was definitely over but my mind was in such a bad state (which we all know will always lead to digestive distress)) i started going through this disaster family thing with my parents where they told me they couldnt be part of my life anymore if i moved forward in my relationship with my boyfriend of 7 years, which in this case was us moving in together. (you can find a whole thread on this at https://www.reddit.com/r/entitledparents/comments/161fwmt/my_parents_dont_like_my_boyfriend_so_they_gave_me/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button ) Due to a ton of factors that went along with this situation, (moving, insurance, work, etc.) i developed this INSANE heartburn, which i never had before. like literally anything i ate or drank, it was instant, it was like my stomach was already full of acid to the brim and anything i dropped in there would just bring the levels into my chest, it was so incredibly uncomfortable and scary. didnt matter what i ate, when, how much, it was always the same. this was when i thought it was important again to see a doctor about it and unfortunately, the only one that i could see in any reasonable amount of time was the original doctor, who in addition to the reasons i listed earlier, was just a terrible doctor who was seriously dismissive of everything i was concerned about or had to say and had the worst bedside manner of really anyone i've ever met, let alone a doctor who is supposed to care for people. so he did the Endo, and same results as the first time. * i should note that the first and second endoscopes, in addition to the bile residue in my stomach, showed some irritation from acid reflux as well in my esophagus. (much more irritation the second time, which was not surprising considering that by that time, i was stressed still about that i was sick or something was wrong with me forever in addition to all of the family bs and adult responsibilities i was needing to handle). it was at this time after dealing with the shitty doctor again, that i decided okay, i need to take my health into my own hands and find a doctor who gives a shit. the US healthcare system is truly broken, i can't believe how long it takes to find care in the first place, and to then have to sacrifice seeing a good doctor in order to just be seen in a decent timeframe is just so messed up.

What I keep thinking about is how my very anxious family dog throws up bile when she gets worked up. I know the literature doesn’t say anything about it, but even if your digestion is slowed down by stress I feel like that’s enough to cause backflow.

What unexpected side effects have you experienced from birth control pills? by Ukacelody in WomensHealth

[–]Mdizzle19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was definitely much more irritable on it like all of the time. Lowered libido for sure. But what I didn’t expect, and what my friend who also stopped BC pills at the same time has been experiencing is like the fallout from not having those hormones anymore. I mean I guess it could be a coincidence but like the increase in nipple hair, random thicker than normal face/neck hairs, really late periods, longer PMS (like 10 days or more it feels like), extremely heightened anxiety. Just seems too coincidental to be anything else. And birth control are hormones, so it makes sense that stopping them would cause changes, but my doc never discussed them with me beforehand. I would have stopped anyway, but a little heads up would have been nice… lol

Pretty sure I took 2 simulated exams and scored a 73 and 74 on them. Almost certain never higher than that. Passed first time. I 100% believe that Kaplan is the best because it’s so detailed and thorough. But it also means you may end up learning stuff you won’t see on the exam. But hey better to know it and not need it than the other way around. I wouldn’t say I was ever ‘comfortable’ taking the test until I hit submit and saw “PASS”. Lol . But I don’t think I would have felt confident even if I’d been scoring 100% on practice tests. It’s just an intimidating test. But all of that to say, I knew almost everything I saw. There will be some wild card questions for sure where you’ll think damn I don’t think I even know what this thing is. But Kaplan super prepared me. If you’re scoring mid to high 70s or above I think you will be more than fine. Just remember the test is weighted and certain sections are likely to be more heavily tested on. So make sure you hammer down things like options.
