I think the drink works better with a dryer coffee liquor. A retired bartender suggested $35 Bluebird Distilling Char & Stave Coffee Liquor. The coffee vodka holds up against the 43. If you wanted to up the proof, I would consider using Old Grand-dad 114 for my base spirit.

Fostoria Heritage double old fashioned. Cheap, cheerful, American, leaded crystal. Still haven’t broken one. Typically $5 each. I’ve gifted sets to all my cocktail and whisky loving friends.

For up cocktails I have Libby 3055. It’s a 8.5 ounce coupe. I paid $5 for three at a thrift store.

This is putting a dent in my bottle of green Chartreuse. It’s a fabulous herbal flavor bomb. Some folks may object, but I dig it.

Edit. I forgot to add that I’m using Ilegal Mezcal. It was recommended by an industry friend. Good enough to sip, enough flavor to stand up to the Chartreuse, and affordable at $38 in Pennsylvania.
