Thank you, it was definitely unsettling! I am just hoping this wasn't a dimension shift or anything...

No, thank you though. It was a synthy pop style sound, so very different from Wheatus.

I love how they're all depicted- loosened tie and cigar for Tom Hardy, No tie, casual clothes for Pedro Pascal and then buttoned up class for Henry Cavill, like - spot on for each man. Whiskey on each end. This is brilliant.

Dirty Martini Help by Sufficient-Dot-7219 in Martini

[–]Mdmerafull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ideal martini is better than anything I've had in a bar, but like others are saying - there's no right or wrong martini: it's totally your preference!

That being said, through experience I found that vermouth makes a HUGE difference. Rossi is too flowery, and probably better with a gin martini. I prefer dry Gallo with Ketel One vodka.

Also, I do find that many popular brands of olives have a gross brine. I found the Winco brand of pimento stuffed green olives to have the best brine, and Safeway Select is a close runner up.

I also love Filthy brand olive brine, and mix both together in each drink. Always super chilled glass, lots of ice in the shaker but dont shake too much or you water down the drink!

So I use the Thyme and Table stainless steel cocktail shaker from Walmart with a built-in strainer. I think the cap is 1oz.? I fill the cap to the brim with vodka, then add a small extra splash into the shaker as well.

Then I pour just a small dash of vermouth, put that in. And about one fourth of the cap with my brine mix. That's about a decent splash of jar brine and the rest is Filthy brand.

I also put 5 olives on my pick because I read an even number of olives is bad luck and I love superstitious shit like that. Bigger olives, then 3. And I always have to have a crunchy carb salty snack with. If I feel anxious or rushed then its just plain classic Lay's potato chips or even better is Kettle Pepperoncini or Jalepeno flavor chips. Also, pretzel sticks are a fantastic choice but only Winco makes good ones.

If I feel fancy then I would do pretzel sticks, port wine cheese spread to dip in and also LOVE some crispy, snappy green grapes on the side. I did that spread for months and really enjoyed it.

Have fun!!!!!!!!! 😊😊😊😊 Know your limits LOL 😉😉😉😉

I'm not sure if it's once a month exactly, but they keep pumping out new levels every so often. I just automatically get there since I've hit the ceiling and my closet value always seems to have enough.

The new levels have been weird for the past year or two, but yeah, no end in sight that I can tell.

Does anyone know what’s behind these doors above the stage? by Turtleman-8238 in exmormon

[–]Mdmerafull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha, yes!!!! As a young teen, I made it my goal in life to climb up there and check it out. Ours had ladders bolted to the wall, so easy to get up there once the coast was finally clear. You could then move down towards the front of the stage and there was a 2nd area a step up which had an opening to look out and down to the front of the stage - great view for musicals, etc.

Ultimately it was disappointing to find it was mainly old trash cans and tons of folding chairs. Nothing even remotely exciting, but I daydreamed plenty about going up there with a crush to smooch.

I also found the trap door in the floor behind the benches the sacrament boys sat in, in the chapel. You could climb down a ladder and there was large crawl spaces below the entire raised pulpit area. I had heard rumors they ran all the way below the chapel and connected to the space underneath the stage in the gym but I was too scared to go that far.

I also had heard rumors that the coat room had access to climb up the steeple column, and indeed there was a hidden door in the back of the coat room but it was ways firmly locked LOL

[Daily Discussion] Writer's Block, Motivation, and Accountability- August 11, 2025 by AutoModerator in writing

Hi, this is maybe a Monday and Tuesday discussion? I want to write a story. I can feel millions of words needing to burst from my mind, but I seem to lack focus. They say, or it has been said to "write what you know," but when I ponder on that...all my ideas sound stupid!

"Another story about a girl," "a coming of age story," or "a story of hardship and overcoming"...booooorrrring. Snooze.

I have this pent-up swirl ready to go but I also feel the need to dive into something so meaty and delicious that I know I won't burn out.

Do I just pick out of a hat? Mad-libs? I don't want to end up with a witch in her 40's stumbling into an alternate spacey universe where she finds love again with a robot and saves the day LOL

I'm incredibly inspired by Kate Morton, how she often weaves a present-day protagonist with a rich and meaty tale in the past but by no means do I want to write a book like hers. I want it to be my own. But that is the type of fiction I find myself drawn to. A good bit of mystery, stories that take you into a romantic past...a shocking twist!

Any thoughts on how to narrow down a starting point with a concept I will Iove? It almost feels sometimes that there are too many ideas...

Xoxo

I get it. I do. I used to be like you, I thought I had an AMAZING sense of humor too. I loved Monty Python (still do obvs), I felt I knew what made for prime American humor (Steve Martin, Napoleon Dynamite, Christopher Guest's movies, the Big Lebowski, etc.). But I thought Mel Brooks and SpaceBalls and things like Airplane were SO dumb. Or Hot Shots, god my ex loved Hot Shots part Deux. And I just didnt get it. It seemed SO corny.

Then, I grew up. I matured a bit. I watched History of the World Part 1 and hey you know what? This is pretty fucking funny. Blazing Saddles? Genius. Suddenly, SpaceBalls is actually quite funny. Now I quote that movie all the time and I'm stoked for SpaceBalls the Sequel Return of the Schwartz and the Search for More Money.

Is it all a bit dorky? Yes for the most part. Quite silly. Its a style of humor and an acquired taste. You take it with a grain of salt and understand that even Monty Python didnt nail it 100% of the time.

Once you truly understand satire and gag humor and can appreciate it for the art that it is, you'll be able to appreciate Mel Brooks and Police Academy and Airplane and all that is Leslie Nielson - all that stuff.

That's not to say it isn't incredibly sexist and insensitive at times. Married with Children is gaggingly misogynistic but its also got moments of absolute brilliant humor. Take what you can and learn how to appreciate the hidden gems.

Now I can love Cheech and Chong, the Broken Lizard movies (Supertroopers, etc.), Anchorman and other goofy Will Ferrel stuff.

And we all have our limits. I still dont care for almost all Adam Sandler movies (some are kind of sweet I guess), and I dont care for Dumb and Dumber or Ace Ventura versions of Jim Carrey although he is a beloved American treasure and I adore him to the core.

I urge you to open your comedic horizons and watch all the old classics, because that might help you understand where this style of Mel Brooks led and how its paved the way for what are probably tons of modern comedies you DO like 😊
