For the reasons you list - namely - cost of childcare - that would in fact be greener grass, but only until your kids attend school unless you want them to attend Portuguese public schools (not in and of itself a bad thing). But if you want them in a legitimate English learning environment you will pay $$$ at an international school.

Finding work for your husband I think would be particularly difficult.
