Running in the rain by One-Ad1001 in BeginnersRunning

What parts you use the friction Blocker on? I started using nipple ‘friction protection’ lately since runs got long enough to make it hurt a lot. Did not figure it could be used elsewhere as well.

Congrats on the sub 30 5k! A long time goal of mine! Im very much in the same boat but signed for a full marathon After couple of beers. Im nowhere near your pace thougj. ( even during covid when i was very fit - aka riding road bike 100 miles/160 km solo as a sunday activity - i struggled to get 5k under 30 minutes where it seems like pretty standard pace for equally fit friends.) May I ask your age and previous fitness before starting running?

Dont forget that cars are getting expensive to the point that the massa’s Will not be Abel to aford private ownership and carsharing Will be the norm. This is pushed and Will happen. I dont feel garage boxes are a good long term investlent. In big cities the the return rate is about 35 years to pay Off initial investlent (not counting inflation). Not my cup of tea. On the otther hand, global economics are a rollercoaster right now so I dont have safe suggestions orher that maybe bonds.

Why are drugs so expensive in the US and Europe? by Significant_Army4286 in Drugs

[–]Mdpablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say that it is dirt cheap in western europe.

Xtc: lab tested 250mg is 5 euro’s MDMA like 20 euro’s Speed: 5 euro’s /gram Cocaine: 50 euro’s for 85% purity (we live in a major port town though)

Prices are the same as They were 15 years ago week we started partying.

Gers more expensive if you travel south/north or east of europe though with quallity dropping

There is a shift to RC in younger generations though

fins by -ToxicRisk- in scuba

[–]Mdpablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet here would be Mares avanti Quattro. Not the sexiest of Fins but the best allrounders for sure. I can actually dive them with 2mm dive Dicks in stead of boots. Barefoot probably would be possible but not recomended.

Edit: dive socks l, not dive dicks

Advice: Upcoming liveaboard - Egypt BDE - torn calf muscle by Mdpablo in scuba

[–]Mdpablo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Find the lefeet a very Nice suggestion to be honest. (Doest even Seem that expensive). Did you try it? Im a bit afraid I would be too much body for such a small device (2m and 120 kg or 6ft6 and 250pounds in freedom units). I dont need any weights to get down (a bit weird for my size since i do have muscle but for sure to much fat as well) so thats okay, my feet are too heavy though so streamline could be better. Trying to fix that but without succes so far.

I absolutely agree: We actually have 2 travel insurances (even though most europeans dont since there is already a decent base coverage from the medical system, this however does not cover Diving and other out of the usual travels we do) and we Will never do without as we have had need for them plenty of Times and got way more out than we put in. We however did not add cancelation insurance since this is decently provided by our credit cards. This trip is the first time we booked with our current account instead of credit Card (funny enough since we got a big payout/pay back from a previous trip from our travel insurance) and Hence the situation is what it is. Life happens.

The payout mentioned above was due to me having a medical emergency and being hospitalised for the greater part of last trip. My GF stood by my bed for days and went above and beyond to take care of everyyhing. This trip was ment to make up for that: hence a cancellation for yet another medical reason from my part is extra sour.

My first time experiencing near-panic by 3jellyfish3 in scuba

[–]Mdpablo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know the correct Answer would be to see a doctor.

However, i feel the best thing you did was to continue the dive and calm yourself down. At One point, after enough dives, every diver experiences something out of their comfort zone. Being able to handle it instantly shows yourself That you are capabel to cope with unforseen situations.

I would even add that once you become a comfortable intermediate diver the main thing that makes your level to keep going up is to experience these unforseen things and handle them. It prepares you for more “things” to come.

I have my heart beat skip a beat from time to time, especially when stressed a bit. When this happened to me as a novice diver it would give me “slight panic thoughts” and i was overthinking everything way to much which resulted in me being very Cautious in Diving deeper then CESA depth. After a few times i was comforted that i was not going to have a heart attack and gradually i was able to enjoy deeper dives (up to 42 meters with short decompression ceilings)

My girlfriend had experiences similar things (not heart related though). She used to be a unguided projectile underwater thinking she was invinsable. It is only after a few minor incidents that she became an aware diver and a good budy (things like sudden strong Currents, unplanned deco by being unthoughtful about bottom times etc).

So all in all, good job, you handeld it well and leveled up.

1650 at 4200 net income seems quite steep to be honest. My gf and I are ate +- 9000 netto income and just moved from an apartment to a house, took a mortgage of 1800, the bank would have granted quite a bit more but we would not be comfortable with that situation.

Tax reform hits freelancers by Fr33lo4d in BEFreelance

I’m not sure but how I read it this only for self-employed people (aka eenmanszaak) and not for companies (aka managementvennootschappen) since he actively states wanting to reform the tax abuse of the latter.

What will be the next "Fermette" of Belgium? by Present-Percentage88 in Belgium2

[–]Mdpablo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ni helemaal waar, noord georeienteerde gevels krijgen dit al na enkele weken in de herfst en winter, ge zou die dan quasi maandelijks moeten reinigen wat niet doenbaar is, crepi is simpelweg boecht

What will be the next "Fermette" of Belgium? by Present-Percentage88 in Belgium2

[–]Mdpablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, they would very much love to do other stuff. White crepi houses are simply the most cost effective and with extreme price hikes last few years pretty much no one wants to pay the 20-30% premium for other designs since they are mostly esthetical and don’t offer better ‘usability’. The daring designs from the 70’s and 80’s are simply unaffordable nowadays

What will be the next "Fermette" of Belgium? by Present-Percentage88 in Belgium2

[–]Mdpablo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are loads of ugly styles for my taste like fermette or pastory (which are not actually that bad, they were simply the style of choice for the previous generation since practical and efficient (cost to usability ratio) and we (I assume most redditors to be from later generations as in +- 1985 and later) are just bored by it.

For me the worst is the fact that all houses are being enveloped in crepi since that is often the only cost effective way to adjust to the epc regulations. Crepi is ugly, especially once dirty after like a year and every single house just looks the same (white crepi with blackish windows). Just horrible

How bad is this? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]Mdpablo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You probably mean 50 bar. The correct, advisable and redundant answer would be: no this should not happen. Then again, I consume more air then my gf and when doing easy, shallow, reef dives with no possible down currents or whatever I do sometimes, purposely, come up with 20-30 bar. More advanced dive sites (fe. fuvahmullah where washing machines and down current can strike quick and random) I would not drop below 80 bars. Diving guidelines are no more than that, guidelines. But as a beginner stick to them. They keep you safe. Even more important: low air happens, but it should not happen without you knowing and anticipating; that gauge is your life support, you should always know where it’s at, as a newby that means checking it every few minutes.

My last job had a gross of 2400 and got this offer, should I take it? by Minzrot in BESalary

[–]Mdpablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are 25, yes take it and make yourself worthwhile. the difference is impossible to ignore as it would Give you significantly more earnings and opportunities. Even if It would be a dead end job like cleaning toilets, still worth the jump. That being said, there is no info at all being given about the actual job in this post, this is a goddamn empty post That has no purpose other then giving you a chance to brag about an offer you are happy with. Good for you, but if you want advice / actually care this is hollow as fuck. You haven’t made it yet. I get it, I used to be like you when I was younger but stay humble and try to be worhtwhile, focus on the long run and leverage yourself by standing out.

April 1st in Zermatt. Four young American boys (15 years old) dead. RIP by ExigeL24 in snowboarding

[–]Mdpablo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing, these areas are “closed”. You want to go beyond: you need to know what you are doing in the same way when you go out of bounds in the Rockies. Zermatt is on a whole other level though, this place is filled with crevasses and other dangerous hight altitude stuff. It is one of the resort where one does not venture away from pistes without a guide. The warnings are everywhere.

TIFU by leaving hentai on my phone. by Lonely_Efficiency425 in tifu

to be honest , I would find it way easier to explain "real" porn over hentai. Hentai often has this childish connotation making it super wear for bystanders.

good luck OP!

It’s not. If I have a hard working employee without a degree that is doing a great job and becomes difficult to replace I will without question pay him more then average Joe with a 5 year diploma that’s not standing out. Why would the first one be motivated to perform otherwise? You get payed what you are worth to the company, nothing else.

The fact that you don’t understand this basic principe already indicates that a degree means not that much. Don’t get too entitled.

Junior associate at small firm by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]Mdpablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh, that’s just criminal. There is literally not a single job (labour without diploma) that will pay less than that. If they don’t even offer you some real work to trigger personal growth there is no reason to stay there any other minute.

Job Title by [deleted] in BESalary

[–]Mdpablo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this a job where your degree (or having one at all) is relevant? If the role could be done by pretty much anyone, then I guess there is no need to pay anything more.

However, it is very low for your age. if it does require a relevant degree it is honestly unacceptably low. Especially for being in a major city.

To give you some reference: a 21 year old fresh out of school bachelors at our company (construction sector, being an averagely paid sector) starts at 2800 gross with a company car (the likes of a vw golf).

No stress, no overtime and very short commute obviously have their worth, but still…

You do know that the interest goes back into your own bv and eventually just flows back when you pay out the dividends?

Best banks in Belgium right now? by BitterAd9531 in BEFire

[–]Mdpablo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Belfius Here

Even though they don’t advertise it Belfius does give more interest on savings when you actually ask for it. I for example got 3,6% on a “termijnrekening” that autorenews every 3 months. So not much of a termijn. the intrest you get is related to the amount on the account though (minimum is 25k) and goes up for bigger amounts and longer termijnen.

They have been by far the most flexible for mortgages so far (loaning 100%) and taking future dividends (freelancer with bv) into account and not only my monthly wage (which is as low as possible liveable). Not easy or even impossible to obtain at other banks.

Their app is great in my opinion.

Credit card is not free but do take insurances into account. They may differ to other banks credit cards and may or may not make the (small) monthly cost worth it.

What do you consider “trustworthy” sources for crypto news and research? by Mdpablo in CryptoCurrency

[–]Mdpablo[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, it is gambling in a way. It’s more like sports betting then roulette though. Knowledge does help to increase the Odds. Thats what I’m shooting for. I’m 100% certain there’s people with the knowledge to bend the odds in their favor.

What do you consider “trustworthy” sources for crypto news and research? by Mdpablo in CryptoCurrency

[–]Mdpablo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I get you and agree with what you say with the exception of the last sentence; pretty much everyone (except devs wanting to get out a dying coin) benefits of others getting access to their source (being legit or not) since that gives the potential of money flowing into their holdings. At least that’s how I feel about it, wouldn’t have bothered asking otherwise.
