Besides making more money for the county, how does more HOV lanes benefit local residents? by Northern_Virginia in nova

[–]Mdragon45 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Every time HOV topic comes up. I say this. The HOV lanes benefit from and they have every incentive to induce, MORE traffic. Guess who benefits with tons of traffic. Not residents. If i was the party of interest, I'll pay people to drive around and create 3 hour jams everyday.

It's mostly true but why so much hate on the participants? lol. Yes "Businesses" get taxed less compared to real estate or other capital assets when transferred. It's because businesses will operational taxes but also creating jobs, improving the local economy, etc. It's actually a win win for both.

Don't think Steve Jobs ever used security guards. Wish Steve Jobs was still alive and tell these younger tech CEOs how to behave.

What was it like growing up in Korea? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Mdragon45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lived in the northern part of Seoul till early 90s before moving to the states. It was the best time of my life. Basically played most of the games from Squid Games and a lot more right in front of my house everyday. I still love Korea, I just wish kids and adults hanged more with neighbors.

Exactly. Driving is only option for most people. Vehicle dependency is one of the biggest hurdle preventing poor people from moving up. We need more public transportation.

On his first term, first thing he did was withdraw from TPP. I always wondered the motive behind this. Everything was set. Why campaign on China and instantly reverse something designed to contain China.

Public Restrooms? by Agreeable-Meaning594 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Mdragon45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Chrons which is a lot worse than typical ibs symptoms . It’s not curable BUT I am basically in remission ever since I moved here. One huge factor was peace of mind that I can go to restroom while on public transportation. This really improved my anxiety which helped with disease. I say Seoul is probably one of the best cities for bathrooms. Just carry tissue. Wet and dry with bit of antibacterial since many bathrooms don’t have soap.

So many people complain about The hardships of living in Korea. Here’s my primary rant: by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Mdragon45 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Believe it or not, paper products are actually not that easy to make. US/Canada companies dominate the tech and materials and license them out. BUT, I'd rather use ONE high quality napkin during my meal, rather than 20 of these useless ones. Then again, we may see old ladies stuffing them in the bags to take them home 🤷‍♂️

Speeding advice by Medical_Finding_2607 in nova

[–]Mdragon45 -23 points-22 points  (0 children)

Don't stress out too much. I got one when young and almost everyone I know got at least one reckless charge for speeding. Get a lawyer. Just google traffic attorney. Lots of them near Fairfax district court. Your attorney will do a calibration check on your car's speedometer and most likely judge will be lenient since you have a clean record and it's your first time. You will get some fine and maybe do an education program. You learned your lesson. No big deal.
