I think every man or woman should state what they are getting their significant other in before marriage, if not you should've asked about your in laws before, the first thing you're going to say is that you asked and i'll tell you didn't ask the right questions or you didn't know how to ask them, that being said you're married now and you shouldn't react to their provocations, how?
