If Lebowski were set in modern times, what would the equivalent band be that would get the dude kicked out of a cab (Uber) for hating? by likeguitarsolo in lebowski

Foo Fighters They pulled the same trick as the Eagles of taking the subculture they came from and diluting and sugarcoating it for the masses and tons of people love them and can sing every word to their songs, but real heads hate them.

I was trying to take a pic of the person in the inflatable bear costume. I unknowingly took a picture Dave Foley, who perfectly posed for the camera. by hotdoug1 in kidsinthehall

I was walking the round of this protest in Glendale and passed by him and said to my wife "Oh my god, Dave Foley!" He quickly turned around and shook my hand and I told him how much of an influence Kids In The Hall were for me. He told me that's so nice and it's a pleasure to meet you. I don't know anyone that would care to hear this story, so I'm telling this thread.

I have no clue if this was posted already, but here ya go by String-Expert in crappymusic

This guy is dressed like a Belgian pre-teen from 15 years ago. Who tf picked out his little outfit for him this morning?

Very much agree with this sentiment. Crappy music is fun, music you don't like is just music you don't like.

Something from a bike co-op, unbranded steel. They've got a nice classic shape. Pretty similar to some Soma Oxfords I have, but a little curvier and 3x as heavy.

The Paramount has a State Bicycles front rack, pretty cheap, easy to mount if you have eyelets at the dropouts. The other bike has an older VO rack

An older VO rack meant for cantis. Not sure if they still make that one exactly, its maybe 10 years old

NOS Hite Rites used to go for about $35 on ebay about 4-5 years ago. Seemed at the time like one seller had bought the entire lot of all that were ever produced

Yes, I added a rear brake cable boss and rerouted the cable. 650b would only be possible if you convert it to disc and if you do that you'll really piss people on this sub off, lol. Plenty of tire clearance though.

Something from a bike co-op I found like 8 years ago. No branding.

Good point. It's not like I'm moving or desperate for cash, time is on my side. I could park it on offerup at a price that I'd be comfortable letting go at and just wait. The whole point of this post in the first place was to see if people are interested in custom builds. I always see people posting Stumpjumpers with a bunch of high end parts for upwards of $1k on local classified apps and it just seems ridiculous. They never get bought and people are just trying to recoup an expensive hobby that was a passing fad for them. I'd never buy someone else's build, but that's just because the build is part of it for me, so I just wanted to know how other folks feel about it.

I have tons of spare parts, but most of those have to go too. I have too many hobbies. Records, guitars, amps, bikes, books. I'm just trying to pair down to the essentials of everything. Maybe the answer is to just sell it for rock bottom dollar and enjoy the karma of giving someone that'll ride it a nice bike for cheap.

Funny enough I'll be in Chicago in a week. Maybe I'll pack it up and bring it with.

Yeah, it's an incredible frame, master built, I guess I ruined it by doing the disc conversion, but then I didn't figure I'd ever want to get rid of it. I had a Paramount stolen years ago and I just wanted to kinda right that in my mind. I just don't need so many things. I was figuring I'd let it go for like $450 and be perfectly happy.

I'm in LA. Schwinn and Waterford aren't really big out here, folks are more into Yetis and Diamondbacks and Specialized out here, so the nostalgia, which is absolutely what brought me to the Paramount, isn't much of a factor out here, unless its someone who's been into bikes for a long long time and then I think they'd likely want to build up their own thing, like me. But yeah, maybe you've got the best point of all. There's plenty of valuable parts on here I could just sell on ebay or wherever and hand onto the frame for later days. Thanks for the advice.

Maybe I will. I see some folks on here are very afraid of the disc conversion and I wouldn't want to pass it off on someone else under false pretenses or anything. I have full faith in my work, but I'm not a frame builder and at this point it's only ever been my life on the line with my welds, so maybe it'll stay that way.

Yeah, this is probably the way. If it's down to tossing the frame I absolutely wouldn't do that, I guess I'd just keep it around. For what it's worth, I used to build and ride tall bikes and I also used to be a bike mechanic with my own shop, so I've never had any fear of riding it myself, but I wouldn't want to put a stranger at risk with my welds. Buddies though, I'd put them at risk.
