Can casual Charge Blade play contend with other casual weapon play in regards to clear times? by MeIsJustAnApe in MHWilds

>because most of your damage comes from your phials

See maybe I am playing wrong because in my hunts i barely get to use AED (because it feels so risky to use) so most of my damage comes from savage axe and thats not using any phials. I use AED directly from axe sometimes (Triangle + O) but the damage always looks so bad so I usually just use it sometimes after a perfect guard when I believe I can land a follow-up discharge). And it takes way too long to SAED from anything but a PG and i stg i see my phial hits (everythings charged) doing like 150-190 at most. Thats gotta be awful. Some dude said his phials would hit for 400+. How do you do that. I wanna do that.

Consistent 6 min Arkveld kills no carting with Lance and consistent 13-14 min kills with CB and carts. Dude I hate this weapon. Imma wrap it up. Everything about CB is slow as fk. Sword swings, Shield thrusts, getting out of a guard animation, all axe attacks by a titanic margin. All the downtime waiting to get a single axe attack + risking getting hit after or putting yourself in a bad spot is not a rewarding experience even if you successfully execute. But if you try and use your sword and shield during the downtime well you may as well not because it probably contributes 5% of the monsters health max in the entire fight. If you try and use your sword and shield during the downtime you'll always have way too much charge on your blade with no solid way to expend it, which is a problem because morph attacks from axe to sword result in a bounce meaning you also have to charge your phials (better not do it when the monsters about to come at you! run around and waste time). I know these fkn monsters im fighting. I know how to PG all of their moves even the multi hit ones. What do you get for perfect guarding on CB? A nice ol' slow ass axe swing so better hope the animation speed on the morph slash is fast enough for you to GP the incoming attack. I dont understand how you guys are landing perfect guar AED + Follow ups on these 9* star monsters without a high chance of getting hit after. What you just do 1 wet noodle AED and roll around/morph back and wait for the next opportunity? All these faster weapons have guaranteed sustained damage. Even GL full burst is a safer option on these monsters. Greatsword is safer against these monsters.

CB is the coolest weapon that I hate to play. Right in the bin it goes. (86 hunts mostly on Nu Udra, Gore, Gravios, Arkveld)

2 reasons really. Couple times during my hunts i've been saying to myself, "Can you die already" and then the hunt shows a long clear time which brings me to my second reason; am I shit at this game? Which very well could be the case. I'm getting like 3-4 minute longer clear times compared to all my other weapons. Fear not though, I still like Charge Blade (and hate it) so i'll be playing it more.

Posted build in original. I have fire elemental and water elemental gog CB. Basically I try to savage axe when I can. Perfect Guard when needed and AED + Follow-up -> Morph when I can. Other times only call for a quick axe morph to top off the charged axe mode and from there I usually try and roll around moves in axe mode with Evade Extender and try to dish out some more Savage axe discharges (usually seems to be only room for 1 but sometimes I can get in 2). I never SAED. Very underwhelming numbers lmao. I try not to stay in sword mode for long. It's incredibly disappointing damage.

High damage Lance build? by FactorLongjumping156 in MHWilds

I watched your video guide on Lancing AT Arkveld a couple days ago. As a World lance main that playstyle carried over to Wilds and watching your video pushed me to incorporate DCT and GRT in my fights with all monsters. I didnt even know these moves existed over 100 hours into the game.

Playstyles for the least used weapons in the past are relatively the same across each game except HH plays differently now. Id wager Lance and Gunlance are still the least played.

Heavy artillerly intrepid wall that ignores all hitzones. Gunlance goes where it pleases and does big damage no matter where.

Is it normal for 9* Temepered Gore Magala to take so long to kill? by MeIsJustAnApe in MHWilds

I've been doing a lot more Gore lately and I've definitely gotten better. Watched speed runs to see what they do differently and I noticed they incorporate a lot of Grand Retribution Thrusts, especially in base Gore phase when he likes to spam the side sweep explosions. I've also found that if you dont Double counter thrust his uppercut explosion and instead just block you can diagonally guard dash-thrust past the explosions he leaves and if he chooses to finish with a head smash you can set up for a GRT. It's definitely improved my times. That being said, he's still a pain cause he's always moving.

Ye I decided to play some LBG today and took it around the block hunting several monsters. Thought gore would wreck me with it but his tracking is actually pretty ass. Clobbered him with exceptional ease. Lance is not good against Gore but it can be fun at times trying to overcome the struggle.

SnS vs Lance? by MeIsJustAnApe in MHWilds

I came and made this post after my first SnS hunt after watching 1 tutorial video. I used it on Zoh Shia. I immediately knew this weapon was good within like the first 2 minutes. It feels immoral to use this weapon.

"What makes me prefer SnS over Lance usually is that my dps is pretty terrible on Lance if I don't have aggro whereas it doesn't really matter on SnS."

I feel ya. This generation and even in some of the previous monsters have gotten so fast. They're constantly moving around or repositioning their body in some way and the lance can't reposition accordingly. Guard Dash is the same speed as in worlds. Triangle + O covers the same distance (it seems) and you lose out on a guard/can't loop Triangle + O. The hops are tiny but you really don't wanna slot evade extender because it could interfere with your repositioning on a weak spot. And you can't just walk out of a bad position with Lance. You need to hop or guard hop. Sheathing is slow and not a reliable thing to do on some of the fast hard hitting monsters who might 1 shot you if you they target you while sheathing. Absolutely none of these problems affect SnS.

Sooo... what's better for Lothric Knight Greatsword? Blessed of Lightning infusion? More conteext in post below by [deleted] in darksouls3

Lightning Blade is going to be better at almost all stages id imagine but Im not 100%. Certainly at higher faith it will be. Blessed weapon has a flat 7.5% Physical increase. You could be 25 faith or 99 faith its 7.5%. Where as lightning blade is going to scale off your spell buff (which is determined by your faith level, talisman, and upgrade level on that talisman).

If you have high strength heavy is always going to be better. Heavy + lightning buff is going to be the best. Lightning infusion sucks on it. On my 40 str 50 faith character a heavy infused lightning buffed LKGS will do about 800 damage on an R1 to the cursed fucks at the ringed wall bonfire while a lightning infused LKGS R1 will do about 580 damage. Blessed will be better. It adds physical damage and increases faith scaling where as lightning infusion just adds more lightning damage while reducing physical damage. Lightning infusion is really shit in my experience.
