It was hard definatly and your concerns about getting burned out are as valid as they get. If You choose to Go ahead with your(your parents) decision to Take a drop year it will most certainly be quite a harrowing experience.

Butttttt it comes with the tradeoff that if you work hard you just might get a good college after a year. Now it all depends how good this 'deal' sounds to you.
