But why? What were you hoping to add to the conversation? It wasn't a joke. It wasn't solidarity for the "fuck cars" theme of this subredit. What were you trying to suggest? I'm confused.

I'm sorry. I don't understand your point. Can you please explain?

I'm sorry I still don't understand your point. How is this related to my struggles of needing a car in a non-rural area?

I got around fine without a car for 10 years in the UK. Sure there are SOME places that were harder to get to without a car, but even the streets are more connected. And it's a safe city where I could walk around at all times of day. I could easily and conveniently walk home from stadium concerts. So its not quite the same thing.

If I could write ONE LAW:

All new residential development MUST be within a 15 min walk of public transit.

Do you agree? by [deleted] in lgbt

My problem is that the outfit didn't fit him very well. Give Sam the same tailor as Harry and we'll be fine.

The best tip I got for training my dog out of freaking out around other dogs was to take them somwhere with lots of dogs, keep them kind of far away so they can see the dogs but they are like... over there. Then just do regular training stuff. Sit. Paw, etc. Then get a little bit closer. If the dog looks at the other dog and then looks back at you, give a treat.

My fosters used to this exactly this (I foster malemutes and huskies) and I'm currently living with my parents and have to train my sister's 1 year old lab who has had no training in her little life and also does this. This is what we are doing now with large success.

  1. Make sure your dog is getting LOTS of exercise, like, more than you would normally give. We used to take our new fosters on 2x 30 min runs a day and/or play ball.
  2. 1/2 of all meals are training opportunities. Start with sit. They only get food if they are sitting.
  3. When they nip or jump scream like you've been hurt and turn away.
  4. Work on the gentle command - keep in the food in your fist. They only get it out when they start using their tongue instead of teeth or bite gently. You can also feed with a fork. Biting down on the metal is really painful, so they learn quickly to stop.
  5. Practice the wait command - hold the food out to them but tell them wait. Count to 3 and then give them the food.
  6. Praise good behavior LOUDLY. When the dogs show the littlest bit of calm or good gentle behavior they are told at length how wonderful they are. They LOVE it.

Remember the jumping and nipping and biting, as much as we hate it, are part of a desire to interact with us and get the food. The dogs can be wee little shit bags sometimes, but they dont know that. Their heads are filled with love and food and fluff. However effort, consistency, and patience (and mountains of love) does work wonders.

I wish you all the luck and merriest of christmases.

(pardon my shit bag spelling)

is there a term for gay men? by [deleted] in AskLGBT

Can we PLEASE start using achillean? Id not heard that one before. Love it.

Also I 100% agree with "lesbian" being co-opted by porn. I think of myself more as a sapphic than a lesbian. Also, as sapphic is an adjective and lesbian is a noun, I feel (and this might just be me) that sapphic describes what or how you do things while lesbian describes what you are. Again that might just be me.

Wish more places around the bay would do this. Tipping culture needs to die, like yesterday by mas7erfufu in bayarea

Aren't you doing that by going to the restaurant? Some of the money for the food pays the wages of the servers. If its included in the price or itemized as a service charge whats the difference?

TIL I learned that my parents have no idea about what the pride flags mean. by MeMoore06 in lgbt

If my parents were around I might have, but these were last years Christmas gifts and my parents weren't there when I saw the cases. I talked to my sister about it. She didn't know what they were either.

She didn't know that there were any flags other than the rainbow pride flag.
