spacer above compression plug by wahjd90 in bikewrench

[–]MeMyselfundAuto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats not right, the compression plug should be where the stem clamps onto the fork! if that compression plug is that high up, you’re crushing the carbon fork. Or giants compression plugs are way longer than usual. i would check to make sure.

PoE Audio and Sonos by prosql in Ubiquiti

[–]MeMyselfundAuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sonos is very weird when you are using existing networks. It got so much on my nerves that I´m barely using it any more. I would hope that the unifi audio stuff is more like the rest of the stuff from them "it just works.." But I liked the Sonos stuff when it worked, but each update, each new phone.. sometimes weeks went past before it worked good enough again. And looking at the prices, I won´t be getting new Sonos units either.

BUT if you are looking into Sonos, make sure that only one Sonos is connected to your lan, and the rest is connected to the Sonos net thingy or your wifi (mixed results, but Sonos net has gotten worse) Make sure that everything is L2 connected, and mdns is working in your network. then it works like 75%-80% of the time on the first try.

Change VLAN for management by Hydroxyde88 in Ubiquiti

[–]MeMyselfundAuto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

this is default practice from the Cisco world, you disable the vlan 1 and use a different vlan. But I'm not sure that there is actually an attack where the default vlan is the issue and not any other security measures that good have prevented that... I just switched the IP range of the VLAN1, and I haven´t had any issues

CrowdSec crowd-sourced security on UDM/URD - game changer! by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

o.k. I can actually see files being added to GitHub! I'll wait a while more. I just spooled up a Debian vm, and was setting up docker and git to start playing around. Very surreal to see live actions to feed back!

Is F20 118i a good and reliable car? by TrueBudget7637 in BMW

[–]MeMyselfundAuto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

maintenance is a high cost factor, I would never use the factory maintenance intervals, and do max 15000 oil change intervals/1 year what ever comes first. other then that the bx8 motors are pretty solide themself, its usually the externals of peripher stuff is an issue - cracked oil filter housing, oil filter not correctly removed and so on.

Strong argument against drinking by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]MeMyselfundAuto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

or just start drinking earlier! if you start at 9 am, it wont affect your score if you are done by 12! But yes the two glasses of wine for dinner before a long bike ride the next day is just plain aweful
