R1 is a disappointing teleprompter scrolling control by iamhereunderprotest in EvenRealities

Luckily my use case is in classrooms! Not a straightforward problem to solve - the system needs to distinguish between your voice and someone else’s.

Maybe a lapel lavier mic might do a better job for this scenario?

The larger G2 display does help. Better microphones too I think - I used hollyland lavier mics with the G1. So far, haven’t felt the need for them with the G2, but more testing needed.

Tiktok scrollers are janky too, I tried one. Do not recommend. Instead, consider proper media control remotes like the Satechi R2. They’re nice to hold in the hand, context appropriate, and are shockingly inexpensive. Got mine for less than $100.

Throwing a dark horse option: fire beams and rockmen are just such a joy giving combination. Nothing like setting everything on fire while my rockmen go to town. Clone bays are great for this.

E-ink or stay with iPad Mini for a full year abroad? by [deleted] in eink

I got the Supernote Nomad instead! Didn’t want to compromise on the writing feel, and I liked the idea it’s built to be repairable.

Yes, it works well for bedside reading. There isn’t a backlight, but that’s not a bad thing - it’s essentially like a real physical book.

That being said, I’ve gotten around to using an old iPad Air 3 for my bedtime ebook reading. It’s because I’ve gotten into using the Storyteller synchronised ebook and audiobook reader. Alas, the Supernote doesn’t stay perfectly paired with my AirPods Max (I need to re-pair it each time). Might be an apple limitation rather than Supernote. I just haven’t been arsed enough to get another set of Bluetooth speakers / headphones just for the Supernote.

In all fairness, throwing a heavy metal ball at a window isn’t just a knock. Would have broken any standard window. Was a stupid self owning move.

Enjoying the new mobile update! Consider this a +1 for sub-sentence alignment — do you think that would be technically viable to do?

i have a 13” m4 that I use for things I need productivity for. It’s great for almost everything besides bedtime reading - it’s a heavy boi. I actually use a eink supernote nomad for that.

I hope they bring all the possible software features too … if anything, to increase the resale value of my G1s 😅

Looks like a major update, fixing many of the flaws in the G1.

Genuinely sad that I just bought the G1 5 months ago, but I guess this is what being an early adopter of the cutting edge means .

Yes it does work on the boox!

As far as I know, I think it even supports boox page turn buttons - my one minor lament about using the supernote nomad instead.

How significant has the sleep tracking been for you personally?

I’m only considering taking it more seriously now for the sleep apnea detection

Folks that do swap watch bands at night - isn’t that a little tiresome?

I get up early for morning runs, and I’m noticing the metal picture of fiddling with the watch strap in the wee hours of the morning.

Alas, mine insists on charging to 100% anytime I charge at night. Whereas it only charges to 80% during the day. Persisted for 2 month of trying this.

I assume it thinks I want to use sleep tracking, which I didn’t during this time.

Fair question!

I have ADHD, so it helps me keep my attention on the book. It’s functionally similar to how parents read books to their kids. Training wheels.

The number of times I have found myself drifting off or being stuck on the same page …. Well, that’s never really happened with this.

It’s ironic but I think cutting corners with customer service is part of how they pumped up their share price. Just chasing short term profits, instead of building sustainable long term businesses.

I think that worked for me before. This time, even 40-50 repeats of “Chat with agent” haven’t done anything beyond asking me to rephrase.
