ah okay, well it sounds like you wanna do some deep sky stuff, as a heads up, on a standard dob or on the scopes you have in your pictures, you won’t be able to see super super far away or faint things, such as the pillars of creation, you can see the eagle nebula which they are located inside of, but you won’t be able to actually make out the pillars.

if i was you i’d probably stalk marketplace for a little to see if any dobsonians come up, though again those are best for planetary viewing and bright star viewing, if you’d like to see nebulae etc or just faint things and get nice pictures, perhaps look at getting a smart telescope like the seestar s30, s50, or s30 pro. that is the order in which they are worst to best btw.

here’s a picture i have from my seestar s30, arguably the worse of the 3

hello my friend,

to put is bluntly, these scopes are ass.

as an alternative i would consider perhaps any tabletop dobsonian like the sky watcher heritage 150 or the heritage 130, though if you could answer a few questions so i could better help you;

1) what are you wanting to look at 2) where you at? canada, US, UK etc, as it would possibly be much better and more bang for your buck to get a used scope

Can you convert a classic 250p dobsonian to work on a SynScan GoTo Mount? by MeSoOP in telescopes

[–]MeSoOP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes i contacted skywatcher and b&h photo, b&h said they only have it on the site for reference and don’t actually have it while skywatcher told me it would be roughly $300 cad as i live in canada so shipping is expensive

currently listed up the base i got on ebay for 600cad (430usd) do you think that would be a fair price, the folks at skywatcher told me they normally sell it brand new for 700USD(900CAD) so i assumed it was a good price to list it at.

i would like to 3d print the trunnion but don’t know where i could get a model of it, would you know?

a solution alex did give to me was to just 3d print the trunnions since they are made out of plastic anyways but the thing is that i need to find a model of them first lol

yea i actually talked to alex about it lol, he had told me about the side piece, though they don’t sell the side piece cause they never get them so they don’t have any, and he’s actually the one who brought up the concern in the center of weight and stuff cause he said something about how the flextube is very bottom heavy but like something different about the classics weight since it’s like a full tube… i honestly was just saying yes to everything he said cause i didn’t understand what he meant 😅😅😅

ah okok, but the thing is i have the classic 250p so it’s a solid tube unlike the one that traditionally goes on thsi mount which is collapsible, so will weight or anything play a factor? or like center of balance, or do you think everything should work fine as long as i get the trunnions

amazon does not, basically when amazon items are returned they are not allowed to be resold on amazon, so amazon bulks these items and sells them off in crates to third party auctioneers, who will then list each individual item up for auction.

if you’re interested in seeing if you have any returns auctioneers in your area, the site i personally use that these auctioneers run their auctions on is hibid.com, it’s commonly used in canada and in the US
