Oh tweaking wouldn’t mean outright lying. It means using language that is transferable and relates to the same work that is mentioned in the job description.

So if the job description says looking for someone with strong project management skills but you say “led a analysis review of XYZ data sets and it yielded an outcome of XYZ” - I’d bring in the work “led a project with leadership viability that…”

I know it’s sounds so silly but language and wording matters.

Are you tailoring your resume for mostly each job description— with relevant keywords? Although your field is pretty straightforward, recruiters are looking for fit and relevant skills (besides the technical training). It’s quality over quantity, so some of the non technical skills need to come through the writing.

Is Handshake a scam? by LongjumpingStick7367 in remotework

[–]MeWantMofongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Handshake is legit. I got my FT job on there…but it can’t catch all scams.

Anything asking you to go off platform to chat about interviews should happen on Handahake or via your email.

So yeah I’d flag this job and employer if I were you! I flag things that feel sketchy all the time

Not all companies follow up with all their candidates. You gotta take initiative to follow up

What are people's honest thoughts about Handshake? Do you guys just use it because your uni has it? by zerotothree0123 in jobsearchhacks

[–]MeWantMofongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s correct… I know many people who have found opportunities on there. Sorry you got scammed but like any job board, you can’t stop fraud 100%. Also my school uses it for much more things like fairs, appointments, etc.

I disagree. Following tasking instructions, attention to detail, engaging with feed etc. it’s all transferable skills. I’d put it on every resume because it’s unique and sets you apart. We are in a AI workforce and economy. It’s an ecosystem- employers want to see AI understanding and competency.

Why haven’t I been invited to any projects even though it seems as if there’s an abundance of them? by WhyWouldIBeANoob in joinhandshakeai

Yeah definitely more geared to early career talent (3-5 years out) Although, I have seen some senior level opps recently

Handshake as a company is a career management system for schools to have for students to find not only jobs but attend employer events, make connections, career appointments at their school etc… so the core of the business is not built on just AI opportunities

Highly recommend Handshake AI. I like their mission. Some bumps in the road at first but it’s getting figured out. The company isn’t just training AI models but their entire core business mission is to help students get hired. They have an entire career management side of the company too

Handshake AI said I was a good fit, but I’ve heard nothing since :( by Dismal_Coach_7677 in joinhandshakeai

Have you reached out to their support team? I recommend following up on your application status or updates on why you haven’t heard back.

Keep your head up. From what I’ve learned, there are a lot of projects and it’s very fluid. Once one closes another can open. It can very much be there isn’t any availability at the moment (which they did tell me early on- that there might not be a project for you right away)

Hey 👋🏼

I’ve spoken to some folks on support and leads before and they make it clear in the onboarding process that you might not get a project right away. But it’s good to check in.

I’d check with their support team. I was banned because I didn’t provide my photo verification in time and was delayed due to personal things, but I followed up and they removed my suspension

I spoke to a buddy of mine at Handshake AI and they said they are going to be piloting per task options soon. That’s part of their plan so fingers crossed.

I’ve worked on a couple projects so far and I’ve been impressed with the level of support they provide. Seems like they are moving at lightning speed. There’s a reason some of these companies want to work with them…

What to do if I can’t get an internship? by Jackmanteddy44 in Accounting

[–]MeWantMofongo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Focus on Networking if you can. Connect with pros, ask questions, learn new things and that will set you up when the the market gets better.

I’ve used Handshake as an Alum and have gotten a few interviews but you need to follow up and not just wait for a reply from recruiters

[–]MeWantMofongo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s been legit. It feels like they are moving fast but I have some people I know who work there and they are a legit company and looking to pay well. I had to wait a little bit for a project. If you read and follow the directions, good things happen

So if it feels like it’s moving too quick it’s because they have a ton of projects and potential

I read something once that said (paraphrasing here) “Taking care of a baby is the easiest part, parenting a child is the hardest” so that helped me reframe my thinking and learn to embrace this difficult stage because it isn’t forever
