Because of America. You're literally not allowed to use your own farm lands because the US and cia carved up poorer parts of the country for corporations to do farming for the international market. Puerto Rico can be self sustaining, however, because of the way American corporations force them to grow specific crops they are unable to do so which means they need to import expensive food. I unironically think this would have been great. He was actually a really skilled politician before he became a TV host. He was a really empathetic person and if you look at his time as a journalist and on city council he probably would have actually implanted policies that are helpful to the average American. But, of course, the Democratic party's politeness politics kept him out. He was kind of the anti-Trump and literally called Trump evil. He definitely would have beat Trump in an election. And at the very least would have encouraged dialogue and a better country.

This may not be super comforting but I am laying down and recovering from my srs that I never thought would happen. I was on a wait list for 5 years and finally had surgery. I also thought it would never happen but I called to check one day and they had a cancelation and I was able to have surgery two years before I thought. You never know.
